emu sp1200 & emu emax similarities...

Does the emu sp1200 & emu emax share same components?

I heard they have a simular sound. Is it beacuse they both are 12bit samplers or do they have the same filters?

The sound is very similar. Anyone that disagrees is being anal. I've had both, and I kept the emax. You can adjust the sample rate, you get more memory, and the emax is cheaper than the SP-12/1200.
ps.. there also is no major difference between the SP-12/SP-1200 sound either, so if you want the sound of the SP-1200, you can get it with either the SP-12 or the Emax-1, and save yourself some money!

I for one like the sounds coming from the Emax MORE than the sound of an SP, But SP's look like hella fun to make beats on...

does anyone know where i could get a internal/external CF card reader that's compatible. Zip and floppy disks are cheap but hard to find nowadays.

Pitching down on emax doesnt create that ringing sound, period.
Atleast my emax doesnt. It's more like a regular tune, but emax does sound kinda fat & warm.
The filters are nice and versatile too.
Imo the outputs on the Sp are more punchy.
According to emulatorarchive the filter chips are different too.
Sp's filter: SSM2044
Emax filter: SSM2047

aight, the two filter components seems to be part of the same circutry range..
that should confirm that the both units have a similar sonical character

I have checked that place out but the one external scsi card reader that one of em' uses the site doesnt sell that one any more or any other external just internal. Dont really wanna mess around in something i just got.

Also SCSIfor Samplers is no loger in business and cant get anything from them right now.

If you sample at a lower bandwidth and pitch down you can get a ringing noise, but that noise is not as agressive as the SP-12 stuff...
But it does ring though.
