What you working on right now for a computer? If your running a weak PC or older Mac, then I would go with the Octo-Core Mac Pro, but if you already have a capable Mac or PC, then go with the NEKO?

I will tell you like this: I am a Mac guy through and through and I would have bought a Neko/Miko a long time ago if I was not! Even if I kind of could deal with the intricacies of a PC a little bit, Iwould have bought a Miko/Neko a long time ago, but I just simply can not deal with PC's, I hate them! I used them for over 15 years and switched to Mac and never looked back!

Don't get me wrong, I know the Miko/Neko machines are sick, but I just can't go back to a PC. However, if you like the workflow of a PC than go that route.

PEACE

Yeah I think I remember you from the nation... Why'd you switch back to the mpc?

RIght now im running a crappy windows computer.. all my prior equipment I sold in fear of being laid off from work.

I love PC's. I love trouble shooting and their not a headache for me as they are for some ppl.

The reason why I consider mac is because its cheaper and the specs are crazy!..

I dunno.. still debating...

Lemme guess.. you had issues with the timing?

I was obsessed with the mv. The sequencer was what did it for me. But after messing with the 5k for a couple of days... my love for the mv vanished.

The 5k is very intuitive and is not a bulky cash register like the 4k. I dont see how people can hate on it.

The only issue I ever had with it was trying to get my motif and 5k to communicate with each other correctly.

But SCD and Zuckwheat addressed that viewtopic.php?f=29&t=106831

diegoeskryptic,
'You remind me of myself back in the day :P Have you finally determined what you are going to stick with?

I told myself a Mac Pro was going to be my next purchase. But I told even use my iMac for much besides iTunes. I am thinking about getting one of the new Open Labs workstations with the imitation MPC built in ( :P ), but I am not sure. Nothing else out there excites me.

I agree, nothing out there really excites me. Now that I getting the 5k back, I'd rather try to score one of those timbaland edition Neko's, unless I can get approved for a SAM ASH card.

Yeah I'm always back and forth with gear. But the real reason I sold my gear this last time was to pay for a root canal and there was talks at work about lay offs. Luckily I wasn't affected... at least for now any way

Diego,

At the beginning I thought it was just hype but after purchasing it I was surprised. Amazing sounds and many sound combination possibilities. It works perfectly for my needs. + I sometimes lend it to a friend who has a band and they use my sonic cell with an M-Audio midi controller for live performance. Really cool.

the best thing about that MV8000 is that it allowed me to get real fluent on Sonar PE 3 4 & 5. with my FW1884 (because the MV8000 set on the shelf). I purchased when they went to 2.0 kept it thru 3.52. sold it as soon as the MPC5000 came out.
I DONT CARE WHAT THOSE PEOPLE OVER AT MVNATION SAYS, THE WORKFLOW ON
THAT MV8000 IS TERRIBLE. THE SEQUENCER SUCKS (and i consider myself a FLUENT musician). I've been using sequencers since the MMT-8 & the MV is the worst. Best sequencer that i've used (next to the MPC5000, which is now the BEST) was a program called TEXTURE which was a D OS program. maybe if i were in to Sampling & Chopping i may feel differently about the mv8000... but, i only sample one shots. the MV's Sequencer is the WORST sequencer in HISTORY..imo

Yup. but it will take about 2-3 weeks for them to ship it out from their distribution center in florida. The actual Sam Ash stores dont have them yet...

Seems like those guys get paid on commission cuz the sales rep I talked to was willing to waive taxes and shipping for me... :D
