sample conversion/speed problems

can anyone please help me. i've just spent 5 days plannin' a physical sample library on floppy disk as oppose to on my laptop. now in the final day when i bring it all together i have discovered that when i load my samples into my MPC they are sped up.

i used audio alchemy to downsample all my samples from 44000 hz to 16000hz and to mono reducing the file size to give me more samples per disk . it sounds normal in mpc program maker though when in the mpc it goes crazy

You want them in 44.1Khz/16 bit. So downsampling wasn't a good idea.

Even if the MPC would allow you to play downsampled sounds, they would sound worse. Just stick to 44.1/16.

They MUST remain 44.1 @16. Thats your problem,
