Clipping Distortion

I just got my first MPC, used. I noticed that it was fairly easy to get some clipping distortion when hitting the pads hard, on preloaded samples as well as with my own.

I backed off the levels in the program settings as well as in the mixer and found that all the distortion would go away as far as I could tell

I was just wondering if this was typical, because if not I will have some talking to do with the guy that sold it to me... thanks

You should learn how to adjust the Master Level, this is probably set at Zero which usually causes distortion. I usually keep mine at -12 or -6. Find this in your MPC's "Other" Mode.

yea, shift and pad 10.......Your prolly at 0db.........I too am usually 6db......Unless I'm tryin top blow someones ears out!
