Performing Live

Are there any ways that an MPC user can perform live? Since there is always more than one track or layer, this seems to me like it'd be impossible. You'd need to bring your mpc to a gig with your computer, load the files onto the mpc of the song you want to perform, then just go to Song, and play it and tap out ONE of the tracks. I only see how it would work for someone who makes songs with the MPC without using more than one layer. How do producers play live? Because I'd like to start playing at parties and such. Would the producer need to just get all his music onto records and play the records live and just scratch over them????

The MPC series is one of the best for performing live.

On my MPC 4000, I can load up to 128 sequences, all with up to 128 Tracks each, and
then I use "Next Sequence" to go from 1 sequence to another. (for 96 of those sequences)

If I do something as song, I convert that Song to a Sequence, so that I can use the ever so useful
"Next Sequence" to change sequence with the pads.

Combine "Next Sequence" and "Track Mute" pages to have unlimited fun during a live set.

but to have all those sequences, wouldn't you need all of your samples and programs on your mpc too? that would take up allllll of the space.

if you have a MP with compact flash, zip, scsi or internal HD, where is the issue???? You dont need a computer to save the MPC's samples.
You have not heard of the track musts screen?? As long as you lay each track down separately, you can drop any track out at will. The MPC is NOT an sp303!!
You are onto something w/vinyl though. Buy serato, load YOUR beats into it and lay down a mix set live........

i have an mpc500. i also have one of those RAM cards. is this enough to hold the samples for more than one song?
and also, i don't know much about track mute. what is it?

Dude, if you're prepared to read these replies why don't you just take some time to read the instructional manual that came with your MPC500?

Sounds like you don't have much experience on the MPC so playing live is long way off for you!

Learn how to use the thing well first and if you must, look on YouTube to see some live performances using the MPC.

hahahaha yeah i know.. i read the manual and ive had the mpc for about 5 months.. track mute is just one of the things ive never really looked at.. but yeah instead of asking what it is i might as well look it up in my book or just mess with it on my mpc...
