does the 2000 mainboard fit into the 2000xl

hi just bought an akai mpc 2000 xl and i have a 2000 for replacement, so i wanna know is it possible to put the mainboard and the 8 channel out expansion board in the mpc 2000 xl?

Mainboard...... Not sure, but I doubt it, otherwise Akai would have used the same chassis w/a different color scheme/layout on the xl to save $$$

The 8 outs is all good though.

Well I would try that, i dont know the exact dimensions of 2k/2kxl mainboards but i belive it would fit after some modifications.
BTW why would you want to do that? what is the reason of that?

Well it doesnt matter if it fit (from the dimensions point of view). If the 2000 and the 2000XL had the same mainboard then it would be possible to get all the XL functions on the 2000. But thats not possible. The XL is the XL cause its the XL and not the 2000

See if you can get the 2000classic jog wheel installed on the XL!

wont work. The xl jog wheel is single function, the 2000 has 2 functions......Maybe after some SERIOUS mods....

yeah but are the functions done by the jog wheel or by the MPC?

There has to be some kind of mechanism that recognized the rotation of the inner wheel and another mechanism that recognizes the outer dial on the 2000. You would have to add parts to the xl to make it work and if youve ever removed the top casing on an xl, youll see that its not possible....

yeah I have never seen the inside of the classic though .. well not in person. Too bad though.
