The CD drive is a good option for several reasons, particularly if you can find one at a rock bottom price!
I have an external CD drive that is capable of burning CDs too. However, I still find myself turning to the MPC drive for sampling off CDs on the fly and for simply playing CDs through the MPC.
My MPC is pretty much central to my studio so it works for me on a convenience level.
If you're gigging and need to play stuff between sets, again, there's nothing like having everything self contained.
Besides, there's nothing like a fully stuffed machine
