XR20 question

Is the XR20 anything worth buying? Im very new to anything MIDI pad like and wondered if the XR20 was any good even just to begin on. Id like to start off with the MPC500 but my moneys a lil tight. Thanks For the Help

i would save up for the mpc500. the xr20 is a drum machine with no sampling capabilities. that means you are limited to the sounds in the box, unless you are using a different sampler or software. there was a file with all of the xr20 sounds on it around here somewhere, so really, if you saved up for the 500, and found that sample pack, you would have the xr20 sounds and the ability to sample.

thats what i would do.

F the XR20. The sample packs are online for free. After you get that theres no point in paying extra for plastic and blue-lit pads. And get a 1000 with JJ

Honestly it is an entry level toy. After a few weeks and learning some stuff, you'll realise how bad it is for creativity. If you must have an MPC, I vote the 1000 as well. I find the screen on the 500 too limiting and annoying. But most of all get what you can afford. As stated above, the XR20's sounds are avail if you do a basic search for them.. SHit I have them on my Ext HD somewhere....


To put it in perspective, the XR20 is no better than reg consumer synth without MIDI and the like..... What you hear is all you get....

I have all the sounds I got it from the guy that created all the sounds. There alright nothing special.

I got the XR20 and the MPC500. And to tell you the truth the 20 is catching dust. If money is an issue, then I recommend the MPC500, which is 200 dollars more than the XR20. I bought the 20 when they first came out, but after a year of using it, I went strictly with the 500 because I can create my own sounds. The pads are slicker and the box is fun but the 500 is where I'm at.

anybody got a link to the xr20 samplepack?
or could you point me in the right direction
