HELP ---->Wrong File Type?

Sup everybody - i've been lurking for a while but I finally had a problem that calls on the knowledge of everyone here.

This is the 3rd time today i've saved files (both PGM's and APS) on my 2000XL (to an external 250 Zip) and when I loaded them up after saving most come up "wrong file type".
I have no idea what this is or what the problem could be because they were save as SND.'s

When I loaded the second beat I saved today it only loaded the main sample I chopped up, but played the right channel all nutso like 32nd notes while the left played fine.

I've had my MPC for 2/3 years now with no problems. Do you all think the Zip Drive is faulty? Maybe the disk itself?
All I know is, I've wasted HOURS today by this shit dissappearing, not to mention the no music to show for it.
I can't run the risk of making another beat, saving it and have it load missing 90% of the files.

Got it - I was buggin at the time when I wrote that.

I think I might have figured out what was wrong.
The disk might be damaged from me placing it on my mixers fader.
I forgot the Rane 56's have magnetic faders and when i'm switching thru disks sometimes I lay them on top. I'm not sure if that's what caused it, but i'm pretty positive it's the disk.

Anyways, I know how message boards are yall, I gotta earn my stripes and pay dues. I appreciate any help or advice you all want to give.

It's easy to flowers up those disks.. Sorry to hear that if it is the case!

But yeah, it normally takes some time before you get an answer, because not all heads in here know everything. For example even tho I'm not a pro or anything I still know a thing or two about the XL, but I have NO clue whatsoever about anything midi..


And you don't really need to "pay your dues" , just try to get along and help others out when possible. This is a good place we have here, and we try to keep it that way.
