Hello peoples i am a newb i have been searching for like an hour cant find what i am looking for.

i want to use the mpc1000 for playing live we have a lot of other midi gear to go with it. however i want to know how the memory works. if i am playing live can i access the sd card on the fly to play the beats i have already made?????

for example is the ram just for sampleing. can i leave the ram at 16mg and just get a big sd card likw 256mg and do all the sampling on the laptop.

or do you need all the stuff that you are going to play that night loaded into the ram...

You can do it the way you describe, keep stuff on card and load it up, but there's a catch: you need to stop playback to enter Load/Save mode. Whether that's OK depends on how heavily you rely on the MPC1000 for the core beat, or if turntables etc. are the core of your set.

I have the expansion, so if I play live I will have everything in "Autostart" - so if the MPC goes down for any reason, I just power on again, soon be ready to go... 8)

Yup - it's the same family of RAM as a PC (SDRAM), works the same way.
