what kind of floppies to use for mpc 60 II

I just got a 60 ii and i'm not sure what kind of floppies to use? i tried some different kinds but whenever i go to "save a sound" or something of the type, it says "no disc in drive" so i'm wondering if i'm using the wrong kind of floppies, or is there something wrong with my drive?

You were given a hard time because, not only did you not use the search function, nor did you read the manual, Its on the 1ST page of the MPC 60 FAQ sticky above this post.

Read first... ask questions later is the gerneral consensus.

The floppy-links in the bible is pretty outdated. Where do you guys get your dd's ? I need a bunch of them and ebay seems expensive.

I recall reading that the magnetism on HD disks will damage a drive built for DD-disks. I read it here on the forum, but i'm too lazy to search

Well how can I be wrong if it works? Yeah it may over a long period of time. But I did it for awhile over a year and nothing ever happened to my drive.

Yea, I put diesel fuel in my Lexus, drove 1/2 block and nothing ever happened to my whip.

This is exactly why you have to really be SPECIFIC when buying used gear from people. They might think you are a pest and asking too many questions, but um...yeah okay.

I had an opportunity to buy a super mint 60 from my boy, but he was doing the same thing. I passed. After including the price of a new flop, it wasnt worth it. Plus who knows what other goofy ish he was doing... LOL

It does not damage the drive -- it just compromises the integrity of the media. There's an imbalance in magnetism if you change densities which leads to an unstable disk. The disks will work, but who knows how long they will last -- could last hours, could last decades -- who knows..

If you format from fresh unformatted media, it doesn't matter if it's HD or DD, but since most HD disks were formatted at the factory as HD changing the density to DD from a HD disk would create the imbalance.
