Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

i hsve some samples assigned to pads...they are not equal lengths of time....when i play one and want to cut it off earlier by playing a different pad, both pads play at the same time....sounding horrible...

i have messed around with the parameters and tried poly, mono or note off, but they dont make a difference in this case ...the sounds still only play together..is there another setting im missing somewhere?
or do i have to chop up the samples real small so that theyre chopped on beat and i just go from pad to pad...

hope this makes sense thx for your help!

yes if set to mono if set to poly it will just play over eachother til the 1st pad you hits' sample is done.

yeh unfortunately when i assign them as note off, and I wanna tap the same pad in succession it doesnt sound good...

have tried poly, mono and note off and none work as i need in this instance...as soon as i can find a manual i'll try os'kar's suggestion above

thx

Im having the same problem. I picked up a 2000xl a few days ago. I'm trying to make it so when i hit the next pad it cuts the one before it off. I tried what lazy ray said there but i can only assign 2 pads to cut the first one off, but i need them all to cut each outher off. Im not 2 sure if i explained it wwell, but if anyone can offer any help it would be greatly apreciated.

well you cant make them all cut each other off... you will have to use note off and hold every pad and let go when ever you want to stop the sound ( unless there was a way to lower the polyphony to 1 or some sh!t)

i guess you will just have to practice sequencing real good untill you have your chops right where you want them.
