I was having the same problem with Cubase and Protools I did a lot of seacrhing on the net and found the the 1000 does not send midi time clock info. You can control instruments and things but you can not sync it with those programs. :(

There is a clock, just not MIDI Time Code. 2 different things.

So you can sync it, just not jump around in the cakewalk editor and expect the MPC to jump to the same spot.

Cakewalk has some compensation built in to account for MIDI delays and response time for external gear. Go to your MIDI settings, and try adjusting it. It might be set at some wack number that's doing you wrong.

How does this work anyway since most poeple work in pattern mode?
I now the 2000 has MTC but how does it respond to a time location that is not there in a pattern??

Is this for after when they have converted thier pattern chains to a song?

Try syncing the MPC to Cakewalk, with my setup this works. If I try to sync Cakewalk to my MPC I get terrible, unuseable lag.

when I used Reason and my MPC 1000 it worked just like that too.
but you might want to check you latency on your PC pertaining to your soundcard.

I have that on my Compaq notebook. Not quite Pro spec, but I can get 20ms latency on standalone softsynths like NI FM7 using DirectSound mode, fine for real-time playing. Not sure how low-latency you can go with Sonar etc. but should be pretty low.
But in my case I'm hamstrung by the plugs - only a Mic input. So I have an Echo Indigo I/O card, which is Pro spec, and exposes my shoddy bass playing all too well! :x

Hey guys,

I saw this post and figured, "these might be the right people to talk to about the situation I am having." I am trying to sync all my gear to Sonar so that when I press play in Sonar or from a peice of gear it all plays together. Also, the most important part, I am trying to beable to record the audio from which ever instrument I want and have it still all play together.

I have a Yamaha Motif ES6 with an mLAN16e card for firewire in it, I have an MPC1000, and I have a Yamaha 01X mixer.

I have the MPC plugged into the Motif via MIDI in/out cables and I have the Motif connected to my Yamaha 01X via the mLAN firewire cable. I can record and playback audio just fine but, I cant get the devices to sync together during playback so that when I record the audio it lines the tracks up in SOnar so that when I play from Sonar it all plays back the same way it would when it was sequenced on the MPC and the Motif....

Anyone know what I need to do to sync all this up? All drivers are installed and all the gear recognises eachother its just not syncing within SOnar. I see that the Yamaha 01X has MIDI in/out on the back. Should I plug the MPC into there? Can anyone please, please help?

you need to send midi clock from your computer to your sequencer(s), mpc & motif if you're using both..
