Installing options in MPC 2000 Classic

If I want to upgrade ram, outs ect Do I have to completly remove the circuit board from the top panel?

This seems ridiculous...

Reading the manual would clear this up...it's the same as with the XL>

You only unscrew the bottom plate and thats it....
Should look a bit like this

Actually it is very different from the XL..I just dove in and did it..

You have to remove the top panel and the pad / button circuit board to access the main board...


Got it sorted..

Although I am having a bit of digital distortion in samples on the right channel...

This could be a contact prob with the RAM. Take it out again and clean the contacts of the RAM Sticks and the Slots.

That's what I thought.. I changed the RAM but same prob...


I did not clean the contacts however.. how should I go about that?

I will try it..

Take a q-tip and dip it in isopropyl alcohol. Then wipe over the contacts of the sticks and over the contacs of the slots. BTW are you sure you used the correct RAM? Tell us about what was already installed and what kind of RAM you installed now (megabyte, speed in ns etc)

The ram sticks are 2 16mb ....I replaced them with a 32 mb simm , i removed all ram and the problem persisted. I cleaned contacts and it seemed to improve a bit but my output board ( not 8 but original.. ) was a bit dirty so I cleaned it with q tip and alcohol.. It seems to have improved doing these steps .. But it is still there.. Could it be OS related? Also I was using MPC PGM made programs at first ... Raw wavs seemed to have less of the problem..
