i didnt put any efx on but yh i have a feeling its layering but... how do i check if i layered it. lol at my newb question. its a bit tricky coming from reason to the mp.
even with quantize there will be flanging... IF you recorded the same event on 2 different tracks maybe... did you re-record your snare while on the hihat track using the same program? its been known to happen.
the mpc is not sample accurate so even if 2 events are supposed to happen on the same tick they will be triggered sequentially. furthermore, the distance between the instances will not be the same every time there is an overlap, giving a flanged effect that sounds different in each instance.
oh BTW there is your 'special swing', gentlemen!
do an experiment yall: record a sequence using the same sample on 2 tracks, both triggered on the 1:1:0... now add a 3rd track, a 4th, and so on. and then report back to me. you will only get up to 32 but im curious if that would be a tight grouping. if it was sample accurate, you would just hear the sample get louder, without flange. if not, you should have a complete mess by the time you add the 32nd track.
Lol, we all know it's a mess... at least the heavy MPC users. I'll probably do this test at some point though, just to see how funny it sounds in an extreme scenario.
