Blue Display question??

I remember reading about a switch mod that turned the screen off while the mpc was still runnin, saving screen life.. Does anyone know what happened to this?
The red screens look evil, would be sick for live shows.

The 3k had a switch but the screen wasn't too easy to see without the backlight on.
The 500 has a switch and it works ok but it's because the screen only displays text and still has a certain amount of good visibility when turned off.
On the 500 it's not to save the screen it's to save battery life.
Doing it on the 1k/2500 seems like to much of a wasted hack with bad potential results.

theres no need for a switch since the mpc is backlit with leds. leds dont burn out like electroluminescent light source does

heres a list of lcd wavelength's. and if i remember correctly the lower the wave length the easier it is on the eyes.

the big issue here will be how bright the display is and how dark the room is. if theres ambient light then your eyes wont feel as strained but if youre looking at a lit screen in a super dark room then it wont matter what color it is, its gonna cause eye strain. also if youre a constant distance from it, give your eyes a break and focus on something across the room for a while.

just be glad its not a scanning style screen with flicker. those days are gone thank GOD. the flicker alone was responsible for many headaches.

my biggest problem with the green screen is the contrast...my 2 year old screens kinda greyish and faded when compared to my friend's brand-newish mpc... its the display or the led's??

its gotta be the contrast setting or... if you have ever played with an lcd screen, at the point where theres contact between the actual screen and the ribbon cable there must be a loose contact. the tighter the contact, the darker the lcd.

As for the white screens... Sooty, I am placing a new order for the boards/components and once again it will be a very limited run. I will have both the 2500 and 1000.

please post piccs of moded mpc with white screens!

screen uses a set of smd leds if anybody wants to just change theirs. but you better be good with an iron. you could change your stock screen to any color you can find.

i'm telling you those white screens have the potential to be just as popular (if not more so) than the blue ones. you should place a big order for them if you can! i'm afraid that they're gonna sell out again in 5 minutes.

Lunaticbastard-- would you mind pointing me towards the right kind of LED's for sale? I'm pretty nice with a soldering iron, and would probably give it a shot.

you gotta see the picture of them. black text on a white background, but a soft white, not blinding bright. it looked futuristic & retro all at the same time. as soon as i saw the pic of it i said "that's the one!"

christfutura, if you still have the pics of the white lcds could you post one here. i was looking for the pic i had but i can't find it now (it was just a tiny pic preview like the ones currently on his site but it looked cool.)

oh, one other thing... since you know who it was you sold the original batch of white screens to, it would be cool if you could shoot them an email and see if they can send you a pic of the screens in action after they installed them in their mpc's. i would like to see how they look 'in the wild' so to speak.

but dont be fooled by the supersized pic. these things are really small. i used to sell and install them into nokia phones a few years ago. its fun

This is my 2500 with the white screen. Really nice. The flash washed out the backlight on the second shot.
