Mpc 1000 as the midi sequencer driving midi thru motu?

I have a mac, mpc 1000 and motu micro lite. I want to use the mpc to sequence several synths and would love to know if I can connect it to the micro lite to get more midi routing capabilities, instead of just the a and b outs on the back. Anyone out there go thru anything similar? Or is the beat way to simply do midi thru each device and then set the channels respectively?
