Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By Vertygo2k9 Sat Feb 14, 2009 4:17 pm
hi, i've been a member of these boards for a long time, however it's been years that i don't log on
and forgot my old username and password.

i just got the mcd for the mpc 2000 xl (mpcstuff) and everything works fine.

the question is:

i have TONS of drum sounds that i want to load up to the XL, but i can't figure out how to create a PGR
that will automatically load the sounds into the mpc, without having to configure the pads. on the mpc editor,
it seems like once the pads are full, that's the limit (you can't have extra sounds on the PGR) is this true?

if this is true, then, is there another way to do this?

i hope i'm making myself clear, i simply want to be able to create an mpc .pgr that loads more than 64 sounds

thanks in advance. any help is appreciated. i have a deadline coming up and i desperately need to get this going.

you can have only 64 sound(4 banks by 16 pads) samples in the program(PGM) file.
if you want more sound in the memory(maximum of 128 for mpc2000 classic, dont know for XL though) you have to create another program with 64 sounds.

any way, you wont be able to load more than 64 sounds with a program file as far as i know. you would have to load them manually.

Just create 4 seperate programs, with all the sounds you want, load them into the MPC and set them to the 4 drum program, then save an APS file (All Programs & Sounds) in the root directory of the card. This will save all the programs that you currently have in the RAM along with its sounds. Now, go back to the Load screen (Shift+3), hit Setup (F4), and change "Primary device:" to ATAPI (which is your card reader, also change "Auto loading file type:" to APS. Doing this will load the APS (all 4 programs and its sounds) file that you created in the root directory of the card everytime you turn on your MPC.

Please help..

All of a sudden all of my PGM files in MPC EDITOR error on the MPC when I try to load them. I get "the file is damaged"

it exports fine out of MPCEDITOR and will load back fine into MPCEDITOR, but when I save the progam, and choose my mpc2k and then my zip for the save location, it all show up there. but when I load it in the mpc ERRRORRRRR.
anyone have any issues like that?
