Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hi

I'm a new user of the MPC500 and have started to get my head round it of late. I've started recording samples into my sampler and i'm assigning them to different pads.(the usual begginers stuff). But evertime i use the sampler in song mode it seems to add filters to some pads and not others. Its like it's running a high pass filter over the pad's output but others are fine, and all the samples play fine in trim mode. Can someone tell me where im going wrong please??

Thanks

Bob

Have you tried reassigning the samples to different pads to test if the filtering sound is attached to the pad or to the sample?

Also try resetting all your filters and effects to "0" and off.

Basically i'm guessing that when you have trimed samples and have assigned them to different pads they all sound the same.(EQ Wise) but for some reason when i'm in song mode different pads seemed to be high passed. I have tried to change samples from different pads but it seems to be random in which pads it chooses to effect. In answer to the second question i have change the effects to off. I did this whilst in Effect mode.

Haha It's going mad now. Pad 12 is pitched a semitone down. Pad 11 is high passed. Pad 10 is high passed and Pad 9 is pitched a semitone up.Weird! Help very welcome.Sorry for my incompetence.

Did you "mode, program, assign reset" to reset all the pad parameters?

You can also reinstall your os, maybe it got scrambled like a pc.
It only takes a sec.

Do you have expanded memory in it (the 128)?
I've heard people describe general weirdness going on when thats faulty.

Have you reinstalled your OS yet?

Also do you have an expanded memory in the battery compartment, and is it third party or akai?
(it'll say akai on it if its theirs)

Bob1984 wrote:No i havnt reinstalled the OS how would i go about doing that.I'm pretty sure i don't have the expanded memory either.

DL the OS from the Akai website:
http://www.akaipro.com/contentmgr/showd ... /1113/tt/5
It looks like you have to throw some junk names and emails to DL, and then the directions are either in a text file included with the OS.bin, or they're right there next to it on the DL page. Its just a series of buttons you have to hold down and press in order, its as simple as sam.
