Problem with audio quality loading samples from PC to MPC

Here's how I do things on the PC. Chop samples on audacity then load on them on a CF using one of those usb adapters . Then I put the CF back in the MPC. But when I play the samples the quality is f*cked up. The low end is too loud and other parts/instruments are barely audible if at all. Anybody have a similar problem?

Are you saving them as .wav files?

Is the Prject hz (Bottom left of screen) 44100


This should be the default of Audacity, so unless you changed something it should work.

Are you using any of the edits in Audacity b4 transfering?


I have never had a prob doing it with Audacity..



Is this the only time you have problems with samples?

Yea its a wav file, 44100, and besides chopping I don't do anything else. This problem only occurs when transferring files from PC to the CF card. Samples play perfect when recorded off vinyl. I don't think it's audacity because the samples play fine when I play them back on another program. The only thing I can think of is maybe transfer the files directly to the mpc instead of putting it on the CF reader first. I got a lot of albums that I want to dig through on my comp many of which are kind of rare so this has become a big problem. I should reiterate that the high-end sounds are affected the most.

were they dope samples or not so great samples? Also, were they samples that were often used such as james brown ones?







just kidding man.. I am not sure what is wrong here, it sounds like some sort of codec issue, but I dont see how that could be.

What OS, and was the CF card Formatted with the OS installed on the MPC....

When you have prob like described it makes me think it is a software issue. Do you have a spare CF card?

Was it formatted in the MPC or did you format it in the PC?

The correct way is to Format it in the MPC... Do you have the current Akai OS?

when you chop the sounds on audacity.. check the file specifications and let us know what they are.... it might be that audacity is not exporting the file in a typical format... so possibly the other daws are advanced enough to read the files but not the mpc.. maybe?

Is not having the CF formatted correctly known to have issues similar to this?

I just found the card the mpc came with formatted it in the mpc, loaded samples, and got the same problem. I'm thinking it has to be the CF reader. I'll have to wait to get a usb cable to hook up directly to mpc to see if that works.

Based i=on thei nfo you have given I suspect it is the OS.. Di you download the most current one. The one on most Akai CF Cards is not the most current one.. Check the OS on your MPC and make certain it is the current one.. They will have it on www.akaipro.com

Keep us updated, and yes a format issue can cause this prob. But without knowing exactly what ll your setting are and whethor or not you have the current OS it is kinda hard.
