Akai OS / JJOS: question on the manuals

Another topic, yet it's not a Akai OS vs JJOS thread.

I just have a quick question. My choices are between a 500 and a 1000, and before I buy any of them I want to read the manuals. If i buy the 500 of course I have to read the Akai manual; if i buy the 1000 I have to read the Akai or the JJOS manual, since JJOS might be the only option here.

So the question is... are there any major differences between the Akai OS and the JJOS for the MPC1000? I mean, what manual should I read? I've downloaded the JJOS and it's only about 20 pages or something. The Akai OS is much more.

If I should read both manuals (AK/JJ), what parts on the Akai OS shouldn't I read, since the JJOS is going to replace some features?

It's best to get familiar with both. The JJOS was based on the normal OS. JJOS 3.08 (free version) is actually the Akai OS without the bugs and improved chopping, saving and program features. Newer versions are drifting off more and more from the akai OS.

I would recommend to start with 3.08 first when u have purchased an 1k. If ur not familliar with mpc's at all, it might be very hard to navigate urself through JJOS 4.99.
