Better product Quality

i agree with alot of what Askia Shaheed said. I think sometimes it comes down to cats just being set in their ways and reluctant to change. Alot of people like to complain about the Nu-akai build quality but really disregard the whole package, you got to meet the customer halfway sometimes if you want to actually sell products. Sometimes its a blessing to have a wide user base and the internet to help certain situations. MPC's are better than ever these days (thanks to JJ ) Either way...minor issues shouldn't stop you from making music. Almost every product has minor issues...products are developed by humans.

i strongly disagree with akai's move with the 5000. Their product development is about 1-2 years too slow. The 5000 should have been the facelift the MPC line needed.

I have been very disappointed with Nu-akai for the longest. I have the mpc1k. I am debating myself if i should pay $180 for the pad upgrade (actually FIX) or hit up ebay for a 2000xl? I find it totally ridiculous to be forced to pay for a defective pad build the company is responsible for. Can you imagine ford having a defect in an engine part and telling its customers "We are sorry to inform you that your engine has a defective part that will cause the car to be inoperable. Bring it in to your local dealrship and we will fix it for $1,800 (car cost $10,000) Thats %18 of what you paid for the car. well this is what akai expects everyone to do. The older akai products were built like tanks. I have 2 friends who have mpc's (4000 and 2kxl) that have never broke and needed repair. Akia's support for older products is poor as well. The only thing that kept me from ditching the 1000 was good ol' JJOS. The pads will be my last purchase for the 1000. I personally would not give another penny to akai (at least until they begin to appreciate there customers a little more) When people ask me about mpc purchases, i tell them to hit up ebay or craigslist. I dont even get interested when they release new gear. I havent even paid attention to the 5000.

The build quality on the 1000 and the 500 could be better. But if u take a look at the price I'm totally satisfied.

Then u might better compare ur 40"plasma/lcd/hd tv screen first with that big ass tank-likewise-built-box with a 20" screen what they called a tv back then in 88.

True producers buy MPC:s only for the hardware,

This is the point I was trying to make but everyone thinks I am just trying to make noise. No, customer service and product reliability is paramount. We as the consumer are alwsys being duped. IF I sold you something and it did not do everything I said it would do, you would want your money back. I love MPC's. I just think instead of tricking the consumer into buying a new beta MPC. Make the ones they have fully functional or hire some new programers. I wonder what the mpc would be like if apple made it. It would be a quality product because that company does not want to tarnish its name.
