Two Questions Please

I just purchased a MPC 1000 for portability as I have the 5000 as well. I am just a beginner to the whole MPC scene. I have two questions:

1) Are samples, programs, etc...created on one unit compatible with the other unit?
2) How do you hook up the MPC unit to the Apogee Ensemble via midi?

I know that I have taken my programs and samples from the 1000 load it and play it on the 2500 fine but I don't know if it can be the same with sequences. Should be the same in my opinion but somebody might have more knowledge than I am.

i believe there is a pgm\seq compatability chart around somewhere. just try to search. also check akai's site for that. as far as the midi. just conect the midi out from the mpc to the apogee in. and vise versa. apogee out to mpc in.
