What you just described doesn't actually confirm that the effects are recorded into the resulting samples... (I don't have my MP in front of me)

Ok, damn you're right. It's just monitoring them like that.

But what you wrote is still a valid point-- Anything that's re-sampled will be sampled through the master effects.

(This is really critical to know, for people who use the master effects. Especially since the processing of the master effects will end up DOUBLING if you don't turn them off, and can start to sound nasty)

i like the sound of cicadas too

sorry had to be a little bit corny..

but yeah im gonna try this, but wouldn't the blank pad just mute the entire sound that is on the same track mute as it? why is it letting a little bit of it play?
thats what i don't get.

I think it must have something to do with the decay setting of the program being muted. Try messing around with the decay of the pads in that program. Also, try messing around with the attack and decay of the program doing the muting! Just a shot in the dark.

and PS... I LOVE the sound of cicadas! The True Best Sounding BUG

They were at the standard '5', but I agree that maybe changing the decay will help define the sounds you get from this bug. I'll try it later.

Anyone have any findings to report, involving this trick or another?

I think this bug could be hella useful, especially if we figure out why it's happening and how to define some parameter of it.
