I don't have one myself, but have been following it's development, since it was originally introduced as a
Analog Filter with a Step Sequencer added, to where it's developed to now. The next version
that is expected out this year, was indicated that it would have 2G of RAM plus SD storage. So it's
even more tempting now.
But yes it does have both:
The Spectralis has 3 different sequencing engines on board. Which can be applied to any of it's sound
components engines..... It's has these:
Pattern Sequencing: This is what you would most likely call MPC style sequencing. Which gives Real Time, OverDub and Step by Step recording into this section. Stores 16 Songs, and 256 Patterns
Drum Grid: This is what one would call x0x style sequencing. You use the lighted up 16 buttons to program the steps in for each
sound.
Step Sequencer:
This is a 32 track 96 step stepsequencer that each track has individual length, direction and resolution and each line can skip, mute, gate or glide.
I currently use MPC 4000 and Sequentix P3 + variet of external Analog synths to get similar type of sequencing abilities. But it has always sounded tempting, but so far not enough for me to get one. But with the used prices are pretty good, so you never know. I'd like to see what Roger/Dave have to offer and compare it to the Specrtralis II w/ OS 1.0 and see which ones gives the most bang for the buck for the way that I do things
