Lets put it this way, the latest estimated release date is Q3 '09......I started saving 3 months ago......Hopefully Ill be able to afford one when they come out, but I still don't think its likely.

Nobody knows (I would even say that even Dave and Roger don't know at this point), but the last quote
from them was $1800 but it looked a LOT different then :)

That's just $300 more then the original prices for the MC 909, so I would say it's fair.

I think they should keep it under $2000 to stay competitive against the Roland/Akai/Radikal offerings...

Cheers,
Dave

I don't have one myself, but have been following it's development, since it was originally introduced as a
Analog Filter with a Step Sequencer added, to where it's developed to now. The next version
that is expected out this year, was indicated that it would have 2G of RAM plus SD storage. So it's
even more tempting now.

But yes it does have both:

The Spectralis has 3 different sequencing engines on board. Which can be applied to any of it's sound
components engines..... It's has these:

Pattern Sequencing: This is what you would most likely call MPC style sequencing. Which gives Real Time, OverDub and Step by Step recording into this section. Stores 16 Songs, and 256 Patterns
Drum Grid: This is what one would call x0x style sequencing. You use the lighted up 16 buttons to program the steps in for each
sound.
Step Sequencer:
This is a 32 track 96 step stepsequencer that each track has individual length, direction and resolution and each line can skip, mute, gate or glide.

I currently use MPC 4000 and Sequentix P3 + variet of external Analog synths to get similar type of sequencing abilities. But it has always sounded tempting, but so far not enough for me to get one. But with the used prices are pretty good, so you never know. I'd like to see what Roger/Dave have to offer and compare it to the Specrtralis II w/ OS 1.0 and see which ones gives the most bang for the buck for the way that I do things :)

Interviewer: "Akai has taken the MPC somewhat in the direction of the hoover vacuum....."
Roger Linn: "Yeah, They suck"

LMFAO

The designer of the original product thinks the nukai stuff is ish. 'Nuff Said.

I would say that there is not going to be much new until they release it. They already know they've released
too much and changed too much. I'm sure you'll hear more come Sept--->Dec 20009

Dave

True. They're gonna keep things on the low like Steve Jobs.

OS1.0 is expected in April!! and this thing sounds amazing!! the hybrid really stands under the name hybrid !! Sounds extremely fresh!! everything about this unit is top notch, best digital filters I've heard, although I remeber the waldorf and access haveing great filters.. the filterbank just pumps air like its analogue .. the new delays are as just twisted and are as everything else top top quality....very high end pro unit! can't say enough good points about it !! its close to the perfect instrument when it comes to techno.. the sounds of the samples you load in get a bit of a darker eq curve/ lofi sound to them compared to the punchy rich sound of the 4k .. but that's a small price for such a phenomenal unit!! don't even get me started on the cross modulation .. the learning curve is more like a science and it will teach you things about music you didn't know could be done ... well unless you come from the modular world with free running step sequencers ... really brilliant company with a brilliant product ..
