Building a rack for filltering, EQing drums & samples

What up Good peoples I want to build a rack for filltering, EQing & proccesing dums and samples out of the MPCxl. Any sugestions on how I should go about doing this would be helpful. I've got the eight outs and an eight channel EuroDesk from Brearinger with two AUX sends post or pre fade. I monitor through M-audio Bx5s. I want to upgrade to the 8s as well as upgrade to a 12 channel mixer. No buget just trying to get some out side thoughts before I shoot for any thing. O ya I was looking at the Electrix anolog filters are these better or just as good as the AKIA anolog filter?

i don't know bout electrix. they are affordable but as far as quality goes i am not sure.
i have a behringer (i think i spelled that right) rack unit i use for compression, which was like 100 bucks or somethin.
i also have an audio maximizer, which basically just boosts low and high frequencies. i forgot who makes it, it is alright.
i kinda want to add to might rack setup as well.

I have been thinking of doing the same thing...My thoughts were to use the Akai filter module,along with a decent eq and compressor.I would figure out a way to mount it in like a CD DJ rack/case and then put everything else in the spaces above it.The only thing I am unsure about is how to route all of the appropriate signals and such in the most effecient way possible.Also as I have only an MPC 60 in front of me does the MPC 2000xl have a effects send/return setup on it or would I have to do all of the tweaking to the signal on the way in?

the 60's echo send is really good, read up on it, it's fly. Also if you have a mixer with the indi outs set up it is good to put it on the aux send/return, but with the echo send you get per pad selection and send level, as well as level automation.

Ok, I thought their were other cats out there who are looking to do the same thing. I mean who would'nt want to personalize the sounds coming out of thier MPC by building a rack for it. Vocalist do it and the MP is my voice...... Yo Earnest that CD/DJ rack case is a great idea, but I've been doin some reading on signal routing and it looks like the best thing to do is to jack into a good mixer with multiple AUX buses and then route whatever sounds to the procesors. Can that rack case handle a mixer and a MPC.

Yep you can get them so that they hold like a decent size mixer/whatever on top so that the controls point upward and then they usually have 3 or 4 rack spaces below that to hold whatever rack mount gear you have.The Rack mount stuff fits horizontal like it were sitting on a table.Check out musiciansfriend.com they have them on there.I am trying to put a compact system together for sampling stuff.It would include an MPC plus a little tray for a small Midi controller and 3 or 4 pieces of rackmount gear like a sound module and processors.That way in the event that I need to take my gear somewhere it's all neat and tidy together and already hooked up ready to go.All I would have to do would be hook up the audio outputs to whatever.They are road cases so they are designed for travel and they are well padded and some of them claim to be waterproof.As far as processing drums goes a friend of mine showed me a deal not to long ago that was a compressor/eq/preamp all in one 2U piece of equipment he hooked it up for me and I was impressed.I am getting a setup like this it is simple but effective and very portable.

-Sherman good but kinda arkward to use, but the sound kills
-Electrix Filter Factory definitely sounds better and feels better than the MFC
-MFC copied the Filter Factory and can be had new for about $250 new (Sam Ash was selling them for $99 back in April)
-Effects pedals can be noisy as a b*t*h but good on a cheap
-compressor buy the sound and features of the compressor not the name
You want to add character to your sound not noise and distortion.
Also don't forget getting the right sound going into a sampler works just as good if not better than coming out in most cases.
What are you recording your tracks on? That has a lot to do with how well it will work.
It still comes down to the balance you create when you bring the samples together.

indeed but you need to know which names to try...ie avoid behinger if you want a compressor with character...avoid the meek if you dont want a compressor with character

Son don't get upset, I looked for your post couldn't find it..... besides I'm not too good with the function just yet, so just think of this as a continuation of what you already started .

tube Pre amp - for inbound sound
Rack - to hold MPC, mixer exc.
12ch Mixer - what mixers are close or on a pro level
filter - Electrix fillter pro or frost wave
Compresor - DBx, Joemek or RNC
EQ - Tl audio
Reverb - lexicon
Patch Bay - to route sounds

O I sequnce all my sh*t with midi then dump in computer (sound blaster live) This is my next problem to takle

id go mackie or soundcraft for mixers...behringer are good for the price....

The soundcrafts are very impresive also the TLAudio equpment is prime time they have a nice eight channel mixer but it must coast a couple of GGGGGGs. What kind of mixer do you use dubmunkey?
