First off, to poundaproblem, ssnedden, jdavidson, mr_debauch, Ill-Green, and everyone else who spoke up defending vinyl - thank you. It's nice to know our kind still exists.
To re-state my point once more - I am NOT anti-mp3, or anti-technology. You can sample whatever you want, like I said before - I don't care...
I AM upset about peeps coming into the crate-diggers thread and crapping on vinyl and posting 5843X about why they don't use vinyl, don't need vinyl, it's haterism, etc.
KidQuan - I kinda feel bad for you because you unknowingly walked into a situation that you didn't fully know about - that being all the vinyl haters in the crate digging section - and perhaps now that some of those threads have re-surfaced - you will begin to understand why some of us are so salty about this issue...
jpeg - please do us a favour and change your screen name to mp3. If you can't do that, then please don't post anymore about why mp3's are better, why you don't use vinyl, and how everything has been sampled anyways...We all know where you stand on this issue, and unless you are bringing something new and/or important to the table - don't bother. Thanks in advance.
ssnedden - you are right - it's not an age thing. I know you are a younger cat, but it is very refreshing to see dudes like you come up in the game. Dudes who respect the artform and culture, dudes who still dig in real crates, and dudes who ask others if/when they need help - instead of going on like they know everything already...Peeps like you help me to understand for every clown out there - there is a dude holding it down the right way...
poundaproblem - thanks for your support in this thread. I totally understand the frustration you feel sometimes when it seems like the youger generation want everything right away without giving anything back - or paying the dues - or putting in the work. I'm not sure some of these younger cats fully understand how much work is involved in digging - multiple spots daily - just to find nothing - or in building your own studio from scratch - I know you do!!! lol - or in how hard it used to be to find hip hop records in the late 80's - let alone info on records that were being sampled, etc. I sometimes also feel that some members of the younger crowd (some, not all) - really take everything they have at their fingertips for granted...
As for beats - KidQuan you can check my myspace in my signature, or head on over to cratekings to download my beat tape. Which incidentally was made using real records that I found while out digging in real crates (mostly dollar bins too, jpeg...)
