but it doesn't play back your sequences right! The thing it does best is miss beats!!! not very good... what's the work around for irregular playback? resample it as a bar when it works and sequence by bar losing all the flexibility of a sequencer?

Honestly!!

I guess it is posible that your particular machine may perform more poorly than others. If so, that does suck. I feel for you homie. My machine seems to do ok..deffinitely not unacceptable.

Oh, trust me my machine performs better than all 1000's, cuz I rock an OG ROger Linn Original baby, no complaints over here. I was just really psyched for the 1000 because it looked like they finally did a lot of stiff right, pads on the left, big display, portable. It they do sort it out for all machines then it will be a very great instrument, but if it gonna be cross your fingers and hope you get a good one then it will be a big disappointment for sure.

I'm chiming in to back up the guys who are really pissed about the errors.

OK **** it does it on mine too! got a song to prove it - will email it to akai support so they have something that proves it.

Anyone else who has a song that does does it may want to send it too.

Does look like when a track gets busy it wont play some samples - eg. on bar 6 and 8 may bass line mutes.? if I mute other tracks then its fine. :(

Im in Australia... so I contacted my local AKAI importer also emailed him a copy of this forums topic - claims he recieved it but unwilling to do much about it as no one else here has reported any bugs > **** that Im only contacting their Head Office from now on... anyone know their PH number?

From sonicstate.com review section:

"Beware of this machine !! It sounds good on paper but in actual use it is far from the praise it is getting. It has been noted on the MPC1k forum (www.mpc-forums.com)that this unit has a nasty bug causing it to randomly drop notes from sequences, corrupts samples, timing goes off and perform other very annoying audio/sequencing glitches. Akai seems very unresponsive towards this, the almost unexisting updates do not fix these issues. Other issues not often mentioned: there is no zone slicing like on the 2000xl, no timestretching either. Overall construction is very cheap, many MPC1K have uneven pad sensitivity.
Don't get me wrong, i love the MPC series, and really wanted this product to succeed cuz its small and has usb, but this one just doesnt live up to the standard set by the rest of the family."

:( many manufacturers just treated end-users as the beta-testers in the recent yrs.
i bought yammy aw4416 yrs b4,crashed and data missing, sound drop-outs,just like what u all experienced on mpc1k now.then i returned it and get another one, just the same.
so i think today's many electronic musical instruments which involved heavily on modern computer technology(but the cheap one u know),are mostly very buggy.
emu command station is another example.
i used mpc2k b4 on a project(but not owned one)and it sounds good and very user-friendly.recently i wanna buy the mpc1k cuz the features it stated is very attractive.i tried one in japan music store when it first came out and i travelled there.its buggy as hell and the drum loops just played randomly out of control,i asked the salesman how to manage or control,he tried an hr but failed and told me its a bug on the seq section, not on the sampling side.then i tried a displayed item at local store recently, the feeling is quite good, timing is tight, sounds ok and no more random playing on this trial.then i go out asking cf card price at pc shops, and wanna order the exm128(i don't know the normal 144pin/pc133-cl3/4x32module/128mb ram can also be used b4 i read this forum, but, actually is it proved?),and wanna buy the 1k.but unfortunately(or luckily?)the salesman said its sold out.
just known akai released v1.05 but many said it just fixed the mono sample noises only.
maybe i just need to buy a s/h 2kxlzip instead,if i really need the mpc.
and sorry,deity13,i don't agree w/ ur point and feel ur talking good words for non-responsible manufacturer like an akai salesman.
i think end-users should have the rights to complain if the products are not the same as what the manufacturers advertised.

It was embarrassing for me to go back to Guitar Center twice to return a brand new product. They have not treated me the same since. I feel that this problem is absolutely retarded. They have been aware of it for a while and did not address it in their last OS update... something seems fishy here. You would also think that someone at Akai would be aware of this forum, probably the most comprehensive mpc resource. They are totally ignoring their customers. That is whack. I have been to many other "much smaller" yahoogroups for different instruments that have a representative or representatives from the respective company keeping people informed... the decent thing to do. Akai have been around for a long time and they have gained a good product reputation and a lousy customer service one. We all have the internet now and they can't be pulling the same **** anymore. Make sure that this thread stays at the top. Don't buy their **** until it works. Look at how fired up I am getting over a product I do not own and am not willing to support.

i had this problem with a beat i was making, but i change some setting and it didnt happen again. It was in the OTHER PAD -> then change Truncate Duration "TO Sequence End" . I recorded over the loop and shit didnt happen again. Give it a try, i got no problems with my 1000, still love it.
