Remember there was no such thing as a DVD when the MPC operating code was written. So your MPC will think you have a CDROM drive hooked up and it will act exactly as if you did have a CDROM drive hooked up. They are functionally equivalent and there is no reason to use a DVD drive over a CDROM drive unless someone gave it to you for free.
