Right now I have a zip in my 2kxl and I'm sick of the errors. Last night I saved 2 measly sounds I was messing with on my pc onto a zip disc just to test on my mpc. I successfully load one sound into the MPC, go to load the next sound and get a damn error. WTH? It's maddening! Anyway, as usual I like to over think these things so I'm wondering...
If I get the Addonics CF card reader with their bay adapter deal should I be able to use the IDE cables from the current zip drive? The power cable on the other hand I'd have to swap for one with all the wires not just the 2 it has now? Regardless of cf reader brand OS 1.2 should be installed?
About CF cards-- seems they're a whole other issue which confuses me. It seems even if a card is proven to work at one point, it may not by the time I were to get one cause the manufacturer may have changed some spec on it? Like homie in SMC's thread said happened with the Delkin card, but that may depend on the cf reader brand also?
Assuming everything works, should you format the card in the MPC first and then load sounds from your computer? I'm trying to understand how not to screw up FAT going back and forth from MPC to PC. If I've been creating and saving on the MPC and then load sounds from my pc, it shouldn't be an issue as long as I'm not removing the card half way thru an mpc session to load more sounds at the pc? In other words load whatever you're going to load on the PC then work on the MPC?
Now as far as the reader in your pc, would it cause less problems to have the same brand cf reader in your pc as in your MPC, i.e. Adonics in MPC and Adonics in PC? From what I gather it doesn't matter, but mr_debauch mentioned having cards work on his MPC and not on his computer. What's up with that?
Maybe I should wait for SMC's next batch of readers on Ebay and avoid the hassle or wait for the breakthrough he was working on if it's coming soon
