MPC2500 Discontinued

Wasn't it packed tight in styrofoam? How could the faceplate bend if there's no room for leverage? Maybe it was already damaged before shipping?

It was packed/sealed in the factory box. Two corners of the box took a really good hit, either in shipping or in the MF warehouse, and smashed the faceplate in the process. Damn monkeys.

That or maybe You got a resealed item or something.

I know a guy who works for UPS. He also delivers at guitar stores and stuff. He tells me most of the chauffeurs don't give a **** about the packages. They only care about doing the job as quikly as possible.

I am really skeptical when it comes to GC (formerly MF). I bought 2 CDJ-1000 at once when they first came out. Got home and found one that was brand new and the other had been a floor unit. Brought it in and they had to pull one from another store, just to get the floor model from the other shop. I was f-ing livid. From that point on, I have either bought from smaller local stores or opened the gear in the store after purchase. On top of that, GC has the WORST on-site customer service. Either I don't even get a glance or I will have to interrupt the "gear professionals" from grabbing each others butts to get a question answered. I am getting pissed off just writing about it...

i was just at the guitar center in brea, califorrnia. they had the 2500 for LESS THAN a 1k. it was like $940. and it didnt seem to be a floor model, it just said item clearance. so pissed i have a 1k right now, and wish i had some dough for another 2500. a 2500 w/ jjos 1 or 2 is so clutch for making beats... glad i lived it.

Ya, zZounds just lowered theirs to $1,299 to match MusiciansFriend.com, blemished is $1,099. Often you can get lower prices in the physical Guitar Center. They're trying to get rid of these things.

haha... then you say, "well, i'm just looking anyway" after they fail to anwser basic questions about the gear.

I have never had to use AKAI Customer Service (THANK GOD!), But also I do not use my MPC nearly as much as most of you do. But it is clear to see how AKAI has CUT COST on their products over the years. Me personally, I do not see my self buying another AKAI Product ever again, The 2500 was decent, but IT AINT NO 3000 as far as build quality. IMAGINE IF IT WAS! IMAGINE! Unfortunately that's all that we can do Thanks to NUKAI. I don't know about you guys but I have NO PROBLEM Paying For QUALITY. With that being said, AKAI Step your game up before its to late! Quit being CHEAP! When you take short cuts, YOU WILL get CUT SHORT!!!

I hate to see what they come out with next, If they ever did do another MPC.

Instead of making professional quality gear for professionals they've been concentrating more on producing a quantity of beatmachines for hobbyist. It's the shrinking market for hardware that forces Akai to be less professional. Worst thing is that they don't seem to be ashamed about it.

Usually I don't like giving my opinion on a forum but I would slightly modify your sentence.

It's the shrinking market for hardware that forces Akai to adapt its products and strategy. Remember that Akai remains a company that only seeks to maximise its profits.

As for less or more professional it's only a concept for those who spent 5000$ for a mpc60 the day it was released lol

Out of curiosity! does anyone know What the 3000, the 60 and the 60II cost brand new.

You can check the wikipedia page about MPC and its chart. But i guess it was MSRP and maybe not real prices.
