yeah I did mine last night. im actually kinda disappointed with how they look. they are white, and most of the white ones have a SLIGHT blue-ish tint to them, but these are WAY to blue. they end up looking baby blue/lilac actually, not white.

I did really notice last night that the pcb's in the 2500 are MUCH flimsier and less rigid than the 5000's pcb's.
and those contact points that the leds solder to are really flimsy as well. the 5000 led install was a BREEZE and I actually enjoyed it. the 2500 on the other hand is nerve wracking cause you have to be mad mad careful not not apply too much heat or the contacts WILL break away from the board.

which brings me to my issue. I am going to try finding the exact leds I want so they are actually white, but im worried about having to remove and replace them AGAIN for fear that a 2nd attempt (3rd if you count the 1st at akai) will cause the contacts to break away.

it'll take days if not a week or so to get the secondary leds.. so i guess i'll finish my black buttons and take some pics as is and get opinions from you guys.

well I took all I could take of those first leds looking skylac (skyblue&licac) lol

I went ahead and yanked em out. extra carefully. managed to keep all my contacts intact and get the new actual white leds in place. Even fixed my Qlink boards led contacts too. Just used a needle to scratch some of the green film over the traces to expose bare metal on the trace and bent the led in a very short arc to make contact and soldered it in place.
then covered with electrical tape just for extra protection. Worked like a champ!

NOW, if the Order I placed A WEEK ago from VST would get here with my buttons and new lcd window and bezel I would be good to go. Got most of my buttons painted Black, just waiting on the vst buttons.
Although I did get some red paint and Im thinking about doing my function buttons and tap tempo in red.
maybe even my side panels.

Any suggestions/opinions?
pics are on deck once its done ima post em up.

Dope fam.

Just do the buttons first. Then from there decide on the panels. Take the process slowly so you can soak it all in and not go about doing customizations you dont like.

Yo I did some photoshopping to see some variations before being stuck with anything permanent.
the variations are subtle but noticeable to me so..
anyway, have a look and see what you guys think..
(ps. the variations are just with the black and red buttons, the leds are done and staying as is.)

p.s. you'll notice the dyed undo button. see how the led is less bright? and u can see the buttons shape. its black when off though.

I would go with the 3rd last one.

Yeah ? (you mean the 5th one then) I think that's cause it reminds you of yours..
One of the main reasons I tried so many variations is cause I didn't wanna appear to be biting your style.
then I realized, there is only so much you can really do with it, considering the stock colors and the button groupings.

so yea..I was thinking 1st, 2nd, or 4th.

the only difference between the 4th and 5th is the tap tempo being red or not.

the last two pics are the same as the 4th and 5th, but just have the painted jog wheel center. I just did that in PS for kicks to see what it would look like. Chances are I would actually do it. (although it would be easy to mask and spray, im too picky and if the edge wasn't perfect..ew)

I like the +&- buttons under the numbers and under the jog wheel being red, as well as the Unput thru button.. Im just not sure about the F1-F6.

Im thinking about just buying two sets of Function buttons and spraying some red and some black and switching if I change my mind.

And to think that I was going to leave some of those Grey. hahahahaha

I aint saying I dont like it.. It just reminds me of a 3000. which is cool and all. But I favor the new school look.
that 2010 sh!t. Hence my usage of White leds. it has that HID headlight look. (plus I aint seen anyone else to it)

yo ceo.. you gotta pic a picture. tell me which of the mockups you liked..
Im trying to get input to help me make my final decision!
