Well it's only taken me about 1 month to find the time in between taking care of the baby to get it back together. If I had taken a before and after you'd know how messy it was until 2 days ago.

Plus the cabling is quite a mess. Really need to get more cable wraps and zip ties going to hold it together. My thinking is that it is going to change a bit more before I finish though, so it's still in a quasi setup state with not *everything* hooked up for ins/outs properly to get full routing through the patch bay.

I really need to move the patch bay out of reach of the little one and get the turntable up a bit higher... though it is funny to hear her scratch old macdonald... lol Do need to get on a bit more baby proofing though.

On the wishlist for a possible post xmas upgrade might be to get an MPC 2.5k to replace the 1k, maybe a roland fantom xr and probably a mic pre-amp since the current way for me to get mic input is through the kaoss pad 2 right now, which is somewhat less than a desirable recording sound though fun for letting my daughter record ABCD's... I should probably really try and find a way to squeeze a proper compressor in there too... but that's not a high priority for me at the moment.

sold my 1000 and got the 2000.. I like it a LOT more :D

why do you prefer the 2000 over the 1000? its shocking to hear that because a lot of people are saying get the 1000 due to the extra features and have all but written off the 2000 classic. i just got a 2000 classic a week ago and I love mine

Still more configurations to do... need to swing everything a bit closer too... might require some custom furniture. It has been refreshing to cut the computer out though. I think I'd prefer the synths on the side and everything else in the middle, but not quite sure yet. Need to try this configuration out a bit more to see what I think.

Got a few things here...

Yamaha 5" Monitors
Rock It 10" Woofer
Vinyl (need to get the rest up here) Rockin' Disney Classics for the baby
Technics 1200mkII Turntable
MidiSport 8x8
Patch Bay (for all my routing needs)
Aural Exciter
Akai MPC 1k
Moog Voyager Anniversary
Korg Triton Studio
Korg Kaoss Pad 2
A few (okay 4) Moogerfoogers
Yamaha Motif Rack ES
Access Virus TI Desktop (with the TI2 rackmount... go go dremel tool)
Synth Mangler/Hymn Strangler
Flame Midi Talking Synth
Lots of f'ing midi/audio cables

Not a perfectly organized setup... but I'll get there.

Baby and a bag of 150 fun balls just add to the chaos.

no computer? NICE! are you using a MTR or mixer?

Here's what my bandmate called my spaceship. I'll post some more pictures of the surrounding area in the future(which contains turntable, mic booth and monitors). My aim in this setup was to get everything as reachable as possible and also to get the samplers up so my neck could get some relief from the constant bending. I'm really liking the mpc like this, simply for that reason; I can sit back in my chair and make the beat as opposed to hunching over the machine.

Donno if I understand the set-up, but I like that yr rocking the sp-505 with the mpc 1k. What's with that orange stripe down the front right of the 505? You paint that on, or is it a sticker or something?

That's a deadly set-up tho (505 / 1k).

Peace.

I painted the orange stripe. I'm gonna paint the whole thing orange and blue; alot of times I start stuff and do a little bit at a time on a whole bunch of stuff, so there's alot of half-finished stuff in my music and art world. It will be finished eventually though, along with a paintjob for the mpc too. I love my sp-505. I got it in 2003 and used it for about 4 years until I got my mpc. I wrote around 300 songs on the 505 in those 4 years, which is crazy cause the workflow is so slow compared to the mpc. But now theyr'e teammates. Nobody seems to understand the setup here, but I think it's great. I was having trouble with neck pain and even trouble with sinus headaches from craning my neck for hours at a time. This setup fixed that, which makes me really happy, cause it was really depressing to have pain associated with my favorite thing in the world. peace

The XL also employs a folder file system which is nice.

No mixer right now... doing that through the MPC right now. Not quite the best way to do it, but working out okay for now.

Fun tip... you can use the KP2 kind of like a cross fader to pseudo scratch. I like the default 00 patch and to tap the bottom left corner and slide around while scratching records. Not perfect, but works pretty well.
