Anybody here up on Maschine yet?

motu won't drop a standalone controller, the idea is controller + software, they aren't moving into making full hardware devices. It's much cheaper to let the computer do all the heavy lifting and just make sure the controller is fully and tightly integrated.

Maschine is setting the pace but I know their will be others, it can only get better for us users, whoever jumps in.

I'd like to see something from yamaha or roland, and akai but I agree akai would probably be the last to do it and just jump on the bandwagon once everyone else is proving it to be a success.

have to admit that sounds accurate joe, i think the first time i saw some meaningful interaction between software n hardware was the sp606 so maybe they will revisit after seeing the take up with the machine and the forth-coming up n comers.

I had maschine for a week. I took it back and I truly regret it now.

The workflow and ease of use is crazy. I have never been good at sampling,but I was making decent sample beats within 15 mins of setup. The new updates seem to have really helped and gave the people what they wanted.The sounds are cool also.The price aint bad either.

I plan on buying 1 in the future again. I dont really use my mpc 2000xl anymore. I give props to maschine.

maschine is defo an emerging product and its popularity will have other companies looking at this type of interface so im expecting alot of these types of products in 2010 but maschine set the trend forsure

I find statements like these hard to take. Broke students like me would kill for a Maschine or MPC 2000xl! And I'd use it all the time once I got one!!

I think in the end the better product is the one that provides rock solid timing, an easy to use sequencer that allows you to quickly put ideas together, as well more complex sequencing/sampling and editing features. In this day and age, ease of comptibility and connectivity to your DAW on your computer is vital too. I like how with Maschine you have quick access to your whole sound library. I'm constantly making rough beats, then auditioning/layering other sounds later which match and complement the track, then adding effects on every track. I think Maschine could be pretty good at this, and probably allow you this workflow without looking up at the computer screen.

Whats the CPU load like when running Maschine as a plugin alongside other softsynths in your DAW ??

Maybe with the coming updates, Maschine will become the best in the field. I think I might still end up going for get the MPC though, to sequence all my soft synths, just gotta get that cash together - MPC 2000xl MCD £320, Maschine £489!!

With MIDI I/O surely any good hardware sequencer can work with your DAW and software instruments - did you ever use your MPC 4k like that Saint Joe ?

yeah, mpc can handle software instrument sequencing just like any other instrument. It's a good setup, and if you just want to use it as a sequencer for your software there is nothing wrong with that.

I used it with both samples and some vst, so it's cool to have all my stuff in one place.

Don't get me wrong, the mpc will always be a dope sequencer...I just don't see the need for me to purchase another one as it exists now.

Anything that let's you be creative and fits your workflow is the best for you, whatever that happens to be, I love it all!

I considered pickin this piece up since Im primarily on the software side of things, but I like how the MPC's get you to step away from the screens, and use the one sense you really need when doing music...

On the flip, price point is nice, but Im running a mac with little space left on the internal HD for an OS upgrade and then the space need for NI's machine software, so an Akai MPC1000 looked prettier Plus I missed having my 200XL around, so it was a good choice and great upgrade. No regrets

one of the things I liked about Maschine is that I don't have to look at the computer screen if I don't want to, that's pretty ill in my opinion.

But like I said, whatever let's you be creative, for you it's adding an mpc, so rock on yo! It's def a dope piece

the chord fucntion is pretty nice, but wasn't realy sold with the Arp functionality

Having read the exact specs on the 1.1 update and watched Knock's video, I think the only sticking points I have left about the Maschine is:
a) the price compared to a used MPC 2000xl MCD,
and
b) how hard it hits your cpu when you have lots of things going on.

My laptop is decently quick, just not a monster, so not sure if it would be able to comfortably handle Maschine in Live 8, with lots of other stuff running.

Any Maschine owners that can help out with that point ? I might have to hit up the Maschine forums.

Also with the Ableton template it has, I would be able to use this fully integrated in Live, and hold off on the APC 40 I've been eyeing up. Damn those vids sure can be convincing...whatever I get I want it to be the last thing of its kind I get - a master seqeuncer to be the heart of my studio setup.

^every software application has a system requirements listed to check compatibility to make sure it will work.

I got ableton 8, apc, maschine and everything is running smooth on a 2.8ghz, 4gb macbook pro. as I mentioned earlier maschine is also vst plugin and will load up in live like any other vst plugin.

if memeory serves me right, maschine at release was not optimized and was taxing cpu hard. but they ironed it out with a software update and now works cool. so if you do end up getting it make sure you download the latest software through NI service center application

I'm running a Sony laptop with 2.13GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM - so a little less power than you. I was just worried because of those inital release problems of high usage, and also Tassman & Alchemy together puts me up to about 35-40% CPU usage. Il do my research on the Maschine forums. The listed updates for 1.5 do look very good though, esp. drag and drop MIDI.

Ableton 8, APC40 and Maschine seems like an extremely powerful combo - I hope you're making heat with it! .

I'm looking for something very similar - iv got Ableton 8 suite, will add the APC40 further down the line, and a hardware groove sequencer like the MPC2kxl or the Maschine (I'm aware its a hardware controller for a software app). All that alongside a nice set of keys (better than my Oxygen 49) and its bascially the ultimate production setup.

Does anyone else feel like they're gonna release an updated controller for Maschine?
