Whatever happened to reading the manual?

I love helping people out as much as the next person but some of the questions on this site are assanine. Please for all of the newbs(myself included) glance over the manual first before asking a question on this board. It really clogs up the board and well it just annoys me when the same question is asked 46 times in a span of a week.

no offense but some of the questions you ask are asanine

more than other people asking a question you can find out by remembering everything you've ever read in the manual,being asinine, i think it's stupid to create a topic about how dumb it is to ask a question.

Well, this is why I tried doing a FAQ, but what I'm also seeing is people missing fundamental information, because the MPC1000 is their first musical instrument of any kind, and they got it 'coz they want to be the next Dr. Drab or Puff Duddy or whatever. The Manual and FAQ have to assume people know this stuff, we can't keep "reinventing the wheel".

Things like:
- audio formats, editing WAV files,
- creating loops, understanding tempo vs sample length
- and my biggest beef: lack of MIDI knowledge. If you want to link two synths/sequencers together, you will learn MIDI, just like you will learn to drive if you want to get from A to B under your own steam.

I'm actually in the process of doing something about the MIDI hole, I may have something to post by next week...

PS: the word is asinine, folks, do you want The Queen to come and take her English back?

You are all right, but two remarks: The manual is quite good, but it does not cover everything, show me the page which covers saving mixer settings, for example. And regarding stuff like midi: I am familiar with that for years now, because i liked to play around with it and try out things, but I can understand people who are just interested in using a tool for making music without getting too technical. The MIDI basics are easy, but you can spend years in exploring the possibilities of midi controllers, sequencing, sysex and the like, without ever producing music. Usually you will tell people to find info about midi on the net (there is a lot!), and so they will go to sites, and forums like this one and ask their questions..Dr. Dre probably knows a lot about MIDI, by the way.
He just wont talk about it, because its considered geeky stuff, maybe
