It lets me tighten up my live playing as much or as little I like and gels multiple tracks of data together whilst staying as loose/organic-sounding and as close to my live playing as I want. I double tempo too.

The quantize doesn't work live! Please make a video of you using it and post it on youtube.

Better still, why don't you download the demo and try it for yourself?

Funny.

Just like every other quantise setting in every other OS, it quantises your live hits as you record, but also whilst adhering to the strength setting.
Regardless, I meant my live hits recorded without quantise turned on.

I record with quantise off.
I tighten it up with quantise strength.

I record with quantise strength set low.
I tweak quantise strength.

I record with quantise strength set mid.
I tweak quantise strength.

I record with quantise strength set strong.
I tweak quantise strength.

There are many options

hehe... it's not rocket science.. it's the same as using normal quantise except you have a strength setting too. The strength setting determines how much your hits are pulled towards the absolute quantised value.

It is very easy to hear the difference as you make the strength setting stronger and stronger. You can hear your hits getting tighter and tighter.

Quantise strength isn't elusive at all - it's obvious what it does when you test it out.
Fire up any software sequencer and try out Iterative Quantize for yourself. Fire up OS2XL and try out Quantise Strength for yourself.
It's def my thing in a big way but it sounds like it aint your thing at all... That's fine.

os 2 has more features in pad pattern mode (tune).
os 2 has a better filter behavior with the qlinks (relative adjust instead of absolute).

If you can be eff'ed, could you explain what these do?

i found this whole implementation of the qlinks to be really messed up in 2xl so that's why i don't use it. you have a lot more control in os 2.

I just installed OS2XL on MPC1000 and resieved my pass - checkin it out ,
so far so good ;)

I found how to switch between OS1 4.99L and OS2XL on by holding [TAP TEMPO] key and [POWER] button. that works well

First impressions:

Love quantize strengh!
Great visual feedback on the main screen for Audio and Drum tracks!

My question is:

How to install OS2 correctly to this routine without probs and errors?

Would i be able to swap as easy between OS2 and OS2XL and back to OS1

while working on the same Project ?

Do i have to use the same key combination for tripple OS boot,
or is it more tricky?

you can swap between :
os1 and os2 when turning on

os1 and 2xl when turning on

you cant switch between os2 and 2xl when turning on . If your running 2xl you have to install os2 - wiping 2xl from the memory. Reverse this process to restore it to 2xl (wiping os2 in the process). no need to worry about codes once its been inputted once- the mpc remembers it. This method of Os2 and 2xl switching is a hardware limitiation that JJ couldnot change if he wanted to, unfortunately.

thanks for reply, i am switching between OS2 and 2XL now by 1strestarting
mpc by holdin power + ERASE buttons till mpc boots up completely,
than install desired OS2/2XL from the flash card.
OS1 4.99L is alwYs present in memory and doesnt need to be reinstalled.
So far so good :)

played with OS2 for few hours, went back to OS2XL - find it more usefull
in my apication, oy ONE wish for all OSes --
JJ , pleassse make possible to record AUDIO trackson the fly
without need to stop select NeXT track,
that would make MPC an ultimate live performance Looper
with a good MIDI pedal!
