Do I need a pre-amp for my TT?

To hear it well I have to turn my speakers up to halfway, and when using the MPC I usually only do 25% and even then they are loud as shit. I think I might need a pre-amp?

Depending on your turntable, sure...you may need a phono pre-amp stage or a DJ mixer, yeah.

Other than that, I really don't know what the hell you're talking about. The reason being is because I can't tell if you're saying it's too quiet or too loud as you're changing gain on multiple things in your signal chain.

Oh sorry for not specifying. My turntable is too quiet. I had to turn the volume much louder than usual. I am using a stanton T92.

Doesn't the T92 have USB and S/PDIF? Why not use the S/PDIF digital outs? USB probably has a daft converter and is limited to 16bit. If you use the RCA outs, you'll probably need a phono pre-amp or DJ mixer though as I don't think the T92 has a built in pre-amp. If you're using the RCAs and they're too quiet, then yeah, you do need a pre-amp stage.

I was thinking of using the digital outs, but am not sure of how to connect it to the MPC. I am very much a beginner. And would digital output be the most practical way to get it to the MP? I would rather not use USB cause I just want it straight into the MPC.

Which MPC do you have? The 2500, 4000, 5000 have digital inputs. You MPC may even be able to take the signal directly from the turntable, depending on which you're using.

For other MPCs you'll be using RCA and 1/4 cables and you'll need to get that to line level, so you'll need a phono pre-amp or DJ mixer most likely. No, you don't need an expensive one, but price does often make a difference. It's up to you really what's adequate.

The MPC 1000 can do coaxial S/PDIF in. Actually MOST of them can do S/PDIF in, either out the box or with expansions. WTF am I thinking? Damn, I'm missing a lot. I need to stop, cause my mind is melted right now.

Not sure how the T92 works, but on most devices the Digital Out automatically mimics the main output of the device. The only configuring you will have to do is on the MPC, which is as simple as changing the "Input:" field in the Record menu from Analog to Digital. You should be fine from there.

do some homework instead of asking others to answer every little question you have

looking on the Stanton website the T92 specs say "RCA Stereo Outputs (Phono / Line Switchable)" so you can switch the output to Line level, and then you don't need a pre-amp, just go from the table's output to the mpc's input.

or you can use the table's digital output, connected straight to the MPC's digital input, both use S/PDIF with RCA connectors
