From the forum mentioned above....

'MPC forums is amongst the worst on the net. I always dreaded going there for answers when I had my mpc1000.'

that did cheer me up no end.

that was for sure a person who didn't want to read the manual... and finally sold his mpc after finding out he wouldn't be spoon fed the answers to his questions.

Man honestly I dont give a **** about either company. Im just stating my opinion because I have used both. Ni makes some really buggy products, but they did their thing on maschine.

I would never buy a newer mpc,its seems like akai is putting out shitty products and will never be the same, but I will keep my mpc 2000xl for sentimental values.

On the other hand reverse engineer how of the techniques too. Jah is playing the dude and egging the fiasco on. But as good as the gear is some user is leaving a bad vibe with the endless put down of mpcs. It is possible to use both. Maschine with a MPC.

Exactly!

Both are adequate tools in the hands of someone who is musically inclined.

My belief that is that Emptysea really does work for NI and this means honesty is not part of his game. He has been here since the beginning parading as an MPC user and probably learnt the 1000 and 500 to give hime some background.

The fact that he puts down an MPC on the regular and the complete sales rep language points to nothing other than that possibility. If he isn't then his attachment to the maschine is somewhat odd.

Hearing him admit that an MPC useful is akin to hearing Fonzy say sorry.

Even the name sounds like it's a pisstake on MPC. Think about it!

Before I get accused of being an MPC fanboy let me repeat I own the Maschine, I use Ableton equally if not more than an MPC and I plan on selling my MPC when I head of OS in a couple of months. I don't need it but I enjoy using one when I have it.

The only thing that has come close to his antics were the Beatkangz and Jahrome when he was hustling the 2500 here a few years back. No offense Jahrome that is all in the past.

As long as the tool inspires you to make music and meets your needs than that is what is important. Never have I sat in front of an MPC and got agitated that it didn't do a certain thing. In fact its limitations are what sometimes inspire me to be more creative. I think this is part of the MPC's beauty/appeal. This might be lost on those that have never delved deep into an MPC but that's cool too. You don't have to.

However, please don't come to the MPC forum and create angst by paying out on a tool that the majority of people visit here enjoy using. Information regarding the Maschine is cool though no matter what angle you are coming from. Just keep it friendly.

Subterfuge and clandestine agendas are uncool in all facets of life and inevitably create bad vibes.

Thats the only reason I come here! - It certainly isn't for Production tips or anything else of that matter. The blatant misinformation in loads of threads, and instant arguments that seem to plague this forum are worth the usual lunchtime chuckle. The way some folk get caught up in here is unbelievable.

Dude, it took you that long and that's all you could come up with? You're slipping Askia. Tsk tsk... I expected so much more from you.

I am happy to continue to point out how much you don't know about MPCs. I use JJ OSXL2 and use the real time pitchshift when I sample vinyl or any audio I have stored on my computers hard drive. You claim you used JJ OS2 which is another lie:
http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/os2/rtps_e.htm

Clearly you can see that OS2 (as well as OS 2XL) can record audio pitched in real time. This is something that Maschine cannot do period. This is not simply tuning incoming audio. This is tuning the audio without changing the tempo. But your lack of MPC knowledge is nothing to sweat over. But but you can't convert MPC users effectively without fully understanding the things we like about MPCs.

Next you keep talking about how cumbersome the MPC is because it changes a samples pitch in program mode. And point out how Maschine can do it from the main mode by "holding down a pad and turning a knob." This would be as silly as me saying it is cumbersome to have to "hold down Maschine's pads and turn a knob" when on an MPC, you just tap a pad (without holding it down) and turn the data wheel to adjust the pitch. It would be just as silly for me to point out that you have to turn Mashine's tiny knob to tune the sample (again while holding down the pad) while you can use the MPCs more ergonomic data wheel  Dude, give it up so when can get down to the more important features.

1. For example, using an MPC 2500 w/ JJ OS2XL, you can assign any MODE to its number keys as a short cut. So now you have one button access to any MODE like the original MPC 60 and 3000.
2. Sample chopping. You claim that Maschine chops as well as an MPC. Prove it. I don't see anything in its documentation that shows it can non-destructively chop samples and freely adjust a the slices start and end points without impacting another slice.
3. MPC swing/quantize. Give us some detail about why Maschine is better than an MPC in this regard...a key MPC feature.
4. Discuss how Maschine does Program change and setting MSB/LSB for control of external MIDI instruments.
5. Discuss how Mashine can lock tracks so you can't edit or erase them by accident
6. Discuss how Mashine's track mute, pad mute, group mute and the recording of mute auto mation is superior to an MPC
7. Discuss how easy it is to name or rename audio files using Maschine's hardware
8. Discuss how superior Maschine is when it comes to creating programs, layering samples on a pad, adjust the panning of these sounds...all one one screen.
9. Disucc Maschines ARP and Chords function
10. Discuss how quickly you can change Maschine's hardware surface into a controller (sending MIDI CC messages) for external instruments and software

I am looking forward to hearing about all the advantages.

The point I am trying to make is that should create a thread, discuss its advanges in a well thought out manner. To come into an MPC forum and misrepresent what MPCs actually do is counterpructive to your sales pitch. I am all about new and improved gear. The only reason why I ordered Maschine in the first place is because I immediately saw its potential as well as its faults in regards to do things the MPC does. I don't mind giving NI my humble feedback as well as Akai on these music production workstations....talk to you guys later. I have at least 6 hours to study and loads of homework.

One.

I highly doubt that anyone in this thread works for NI. This thread is not doing the product any favors nor is it selling the product very well. Even users over at the NI Forums are questioning the identity (on their forum) and agenda of some of the people involved, from the threads I glanced at. One cannot be sure, but I am convinced that NI is a reputed enough company with more important flagship products that make them far more money and have a deeper customer base than Maschine, so wouldn't really allow such methods to represent their company. Maschine seems to be selling fairly well also, actually. Despite the fact that I no longer have Maschine. Not because it sucked though. I'm fine with my MPC and other tools.

One could easily say that Askia Shaheed works for Akai, as I don't really see any difference in their delivery, except that he's not over on the NI Forums talking about a MPC. However, I don't think he does work for Akai, just as I don't think Emptysea works for NI. That's just me though. I just think they're both dead set on having the last word, to be honest. The rest of the thread are a couple people who try to be a voice of reason who say use both, a few others who make a good points but gets ignored whist the battle ensues, some who now come just to watch the spectacle and then you have the occasional crony who comes out of nowhere to toss poo and join the bandwagon, spewing regurgitated ill-informed nonsense.

The drum machine apocalypse will never end though, until you see gold letters coming to lock the thread.

aall(?) native instruments gear sounds really squeaky clean generally to my ears.even traktor (respect!!) i always end up with the eq s turned up fully to get the sound out to full power(late in the night he he).new mpcs are similar in this regaurd imo.the 4k is an absolute monster for high power output tho.it depends what kind of sound you looking for.im still waiting for a video link to show the m........ kickin it!!! im waiting and hopefull for inspiration.should nt we be interested in the reallity of the product if were visiting this thred or is it mostly hype like modern life, sell sell sell.the mpc has over 20 years proof.it seems a video link is the onlyway to convince us unless we buy the damn thing.its a lot of dosh.....so?

Bring it on. This is like a car crach I shouldn't be looking at.

I still think these companies work on many levels, including viryl marketing. Everything is possibly part of the charade.

Jahrome was never working for Akai but he was hustling 2500's when they first came out.
