if you need an interface i would go the protools route. the user interface is SO easy. just the edit view for looking at your waveforms, and the mix view for your levels and plugins.
if you already have an interface though you can do amazing things with the mpc and ableton. you're really only limited by what's in your head at this point.
I'm going to sell my MPC1000, get Maschine and a mbox mini with pro tools. I am either going to get an ASR10 or just a midi keyboard after that. I just watched a bunch of tutorial videos on pro tools and i can just tell im going to mesh well with it.
are you recording vocals? are you running any hardware that needs to be tracked via the inputs on an mbox? do you have studio monitors that need an audio interface to get sound out of the computer? if you are planning on selling your mp to get maschine, why do you need Pro Tools.. seems like a waste of money imo. just get maschine and run Reaper.. what is your setup as of right now? what kind of speakers do you have..
selling mint X SE on ebay.
