Ahh, that's the worst. Run the needle back and forth over the part where it skips. My Nas "The World Is Yours" 12" used to skip like that at the point where he says "the thief's theme..." and I tried this method and it eventually worked (I get a pop at that point now but it's better than a skip imho).

Wow, strong words coming from an 18 year old. Now I'm not into the whole discriminating against people because of their age thing but when you get up on here and act like you know it all then you have to be checked. You act as if you yourself know everything. Be careful how you lash out at people like you know it all.

I've been listening to hiphop before the whole underground, mainstream split changed everything. If you were as well you'd understand how messed up things are now. So don't assume that your view of how the "underground is" is the right one because you did some web searches and came to some conclusions.

I have nothing against you but I really don't appreciate your tone.

Bassline I never had problem wit you on this site... I really ain't tryin to start now, but f*ck you.... Act like you know me... Sayin you don't discrimnate based on age and then do nothing but discriminate based on age for the rest of your post...

Don't assume you know sh*t about me... Acting like I know everything when I really did some web searches... Get you head straight man... You're talkin out of your a$$...

And I'm dead serious when I talk about hip-hop... Hip-hop is my love, my passion, and my being... So don't act like I can't talk about it because of my age...

Just curious... How old are you???

And about the underground... Hell Yeah... I'ma get offended when cats talk about it like they know anything... People on this site constantly knock the underground like we're doing something wrong or sellin ourselves short... Yet admit Lil Jon makes wack sh*t and praise him for it (or at least defend him like he does anything special)...

People really got it twisted on here...

That's not where he's coming from Matt, there are a lot of people who get off on the authenticity angle of the underground, and are essentially sheep just like cats that bang whatever clear channel tells them to.

No click is exempt.

Kid, you've got a fvcked up perception of sampling KICKS,,, fvcking kicks man.......

Underground is the reason this sh*t is still hear
LMAO.... Withou t mainstream sales, there wouldn't even be Hiphop ALL OVER THE DAMM WORLD..... Kids on the other side of the world wouldn't be into Hiphop because of UNDERGROUND exposure.... ITS MAINSTREAM EXPOSURE THAT GOT HIPHOP TO OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD IN THE FIRST PLACE.....

Hip-hop was seen as a fad that would die out
Thats when it was still mainly underground and was barely starting to get mainstream exposure... You're a damm fool if you think it got worldwide exposure from underground...IT WAS THE MAINSTREAM.....Hate or love it... It was the mainstream...

If it weren't for the true hip-hop heads of the old school when it was all underground it would have never lasted...
LMAO.... There weren't even "True Hiphop heads of the old school".. You know why?? Because they all accepted each other....Either you were Hiphop or you weren't.......There wasn't any of this "real Hiphop" or "underground Hiphop in the 80s... It was all love for one another....You're 18 kid....I was already making pause tapes when you were barely born.....I was already rocking MC Shy D "Shake It", Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh "The Show", You were in pampers still when I first got my NWA and the Posse tape.......

If you're makin music from the ehart people are gonna sense that and pick up on it...
Do you have ADD or something?? How in the hell are people gonna "sense" someone using a kick or snare from a current record??? Even if they did, the general public which is the people who support the entire music industry, DON'T CARE....... They want to be entertained plain and simple....

That's cause the industry's set up that way
No, some people just simply don't care for that sound... the exact same way you ain't feeling the Lil Jons of the world....This is why you are a f@g elitist, because you can't stand something that SOMEONE else listens too.... Why are you so concerned with what OTHER people listen too?? I bet you would be mad if all the "commercial heads" suddenly went over to "the underground"....

It has to do with Lil Jon makin wack music... No Substance to it and no words... No Rhymes...
Why is it "wack", because YOU say so??lol....obviously someone likes it.....and why does Hiphop have to always be about 'substance"?? Was that ADD kicking up when you were in school?? you want substance, pick up a good book...I can see you've NEVER been to a club..... For the people who want to have a good time, LIL JON IS SUBSTANCE.. because he's not crying about the worlds problems, he makes music to have a good time.....kinda like the uh , SUGAR HILL GANG!!!!!!

Most of the people in the underground had the opportunity to sign with a Major
Man, quit it with the fairy tales.... You're saying MOST??? Thats ALOT of people man....give a percentage.......I mean, do you honestly know how many people are trying to get signed??? To say most have had the opportunity is straight up BS.....

They turned it down cause they knew they'd have to become a gimmick like 90% of the mainstream is.
See, kids like you, make the underground a gimmick too... You have this set of rules, look at what this 12 pages is for..... SAMPLING A KICK FROM A CURRENT ALBUM.....LOL......

You's sound like idiots when you talk about the underground like you know a god damn thing..
Were you looking in the mirror when you typed this???

Go on your get rich quick style flavor b*tch...

lol, this kid's been hanging around with SK........

btw, I used to be in your position with this totally underground steez, but you know what, It's straight up wack.....You're limiting yourself if you say there is no good music on the radio....What can I expect from a whiteboy from the burbs though......He ain't really understanding.....

You know sh*t about hip-hop culture

Now tell me, what does an 18 year old white boy know about the minority struggle?? Thats what Hiphop was born out of, The struggle of Blacks and Latinos in NY..... How can you relate to the struggle of that????

yeah man, if madlib, or cats at like def jux had a chance to sign a big deal with distribution they would be on that **** ASAP. Why the *uck wouldnt you? its a chance to get ur music heard. I just think alot of the majors arent beatin down these dudes doors.

Age doesn't define your roots in hip-hop Boogie... Get your head straight..

And right now, Def Jux and MF Doom gets more play across the world than 50 Cent... It's a fact... Murs and all these cats do twelve month tours in Japan and Australia... Last time I checked 50 ain't been doin that too much...

You are right the mainstream spread it... That wasn't even my point... What I was sayin is that it was all underground at one point and without the following it had it would've never made it to the mainstream...

Also, you said there were no "true hip-hop heads" you either were hip-hop or you weren't... You do realize the contradiction in that statement correct...

And to Bing... Most of these dudes have had or currently do have offers from Majors... Is that so hard to believe...

Company Flow is the number one selling underground album and Jedi Mind Tricks "Violent By Design" is the second highest selling underground album... Violent by Design was all done in Stoupe's bedroom and pressed independently...

You don't think a Major would wanna tap into those sales and make money off of that... Bullsh*t... A lot of underground heads have gotten offers and turned them down...

Madlib said it in an interview with Roy Ayers... He actually makes more money pressing up his sh*t on an underground label and he gets to make the music he wants... So why would he go with any of the major labels that offered him deals...

It's funny that in that Ying-Yang thread I couldn't really hangf you up on direct racism cause you never really let your words slip even though it was obvious that You and vaks were arguin wit me because I was white...

Cold proof here though... First of all I grew up in South Philly... And while I didn't have the roughest life... I didn't grow up rich... I had to earn my way and nobody handed me sh*t...

What you wanna persecute me cause I had both my parents at home and didn't have to hustle to make a living??? Go ahead...

It certainly don't effect me and it just makes you look like an ignorant racist...

Sorry, Matt.... but age plays a large roll in Hip Hop credibilty if you ask me. Watching things unfold in the present is much different than reading biased opinions later on.

It's like history class in that sense. Some of the views expressed are so biased it's sick. But if you were there to see it happen, you can formulate your own unbiased opinion.

I like you though, cat, So don't get mad at me.

The mainstream and the underground are both WACK, There shouldn't be this much polarity in a culture founded on unity. Nothing irks me more than ignorant mainstream cats dissing underground concious cats, and backpack thesaurus rappers knocking mainstream cats for spitting hood shit. That is wack all the way around.

Right, what a way not to start beef. Starting off by saying you don't want beef then telling someone to f*ck themselves...real mature.

You go off on everyone like you're the official spokesman for "The Underground" and no one else knows a thing. I don't know where you developed this arrogance but you need to drop it with the quickness. Nobody likes a no it all (especially when they DON'T know it all).

How old am I? Let's just say a few years older and a lot wiser. I don't even claim to know it all because in the eyes of older cats I would be considered a new jack so how do you think they would feel about an upstart cat under 20 claiming that everything he spits is the gospel? C'mon now, you're too big for you britches. This is an attitude I experience a lot with "underground heads", kids who just started listening to hiphop 5 years ago thinking they're the most knowledgeable. I'm not saying that you just started 5 years ago, but you're damn sure no OG in this sh*t.

Next time please check your attitude at the door.

I feel you Archetype, but at the same time... While I wasn't a teenager through the 80s when hip-hop was growing, I still lived through the early 90s and a grew up with the culture... My brother's 22 and he showed me a lot of sh*t that I prolly wouldn;t have known otherwise...

What I'm sayin is there are cats out there that are 27 and don't know sh*t about the culture... Do they get props because of their age while I get dogged because I'm 18 and I know my sh*t (not everything, but then again no one knows everything)...

It's f*cked up is what I'm sayin...

As far as the underground and mainstream thing... I said before on here that I listen to good music... I love Timbaland and Missy, Dre and Em... As well as Jedi Mind Tricks and Madlib and El-P... I don't see that I should discrimante against the first group I named because I listen to the second group... Nor should I discriminate against the second group because they aren't as big as the first group...

I consider myself an underground head.. Yes I do... But the mainstream isn't my enemy...

That's what I was trying to get across. I had no beef with this cat until he called me out calling me an idiot for no reason.

Expressing yourself does not mean you have to tear others down. That's another thing that you learn with age and experience.

Still didn't lsit your age... Funny... I expected that response... So a few years difference... WOW... I really am a Yung'n to you correct (is that the correct term... please school me if it's not O wise master)...

I never claimed anything I said is gospel... I didn't start listening to hip-hop 5 years ago so drop that argument... Actually I fell in love wit hip-hop when Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg did "Nuttin But a G Thang"....

And for the record... I grew up on the mainstream... Back when the mainstream and the underground were basically one in the same... Biggie, Gangstarr, KRS-One, Nas... I grew up on all these cats... So don't talk like you were so ahead of me in this sh*t...

What I'm referring to is cats that dog the underground for what reason I don't know... I haven't dogged the mainstream... I have dogged certain cats, but that's another issue...

I don't like something just because it's so called "underground"... I dislike lots of underground music too... I hate Anticon, Vast Aire, and a lot of cats...

But none of this has sh*t to do with my age or how long I been listenin to hip-hop..

So check you arguments at the door.. Think before you speak...

You crack me up Wise one...

I don't know you personally so I don't know what you do or don't know. You appeared to be quite knowledgeable for your age (which is admirable), but when you step out and start tearing into everyone and misinterpreting what they say thinking that you're the "all-knowing" is when you lose all credibility. You just reinforce why older heads don't take young cats seriously.

I never said that I was way ahead of you in this but I also never ranted and raved like I was the voice of the underground like you calling people idiots. You really put your foot in your mouth.

Age ain't nuthin but a number...right. I remember Chi Ali and Aaliyah were down with that shit and look where they ended up.

this is stupid, i wish people would just stop arguing about old school hip hop and continue talking about hip hop as a whole, and the topic of sampling in this thread
