Just remember that you heard it from me first  There are at least two threads that identify this problem.

There is a flaw in the design of Maschine's hardware. If this is not corrected, I guarantee you will see more. I just report what I find and not make things up (I do own the product).

Also, I didn't say the problem was pressing two buttons (as you point out the same is true with record + play on an MPC). I was talking about actually having to continuously hold the buttons down. Taking your finger off the button, and replacement recording stops. This is just one example of numerous functions where you have to press and hold a button. I only point this out to paint a picture of the workflow. You have to actually use Maschine and an MPC side by side to do a comparison to understand.

I think NI are just sitting back laughing and rubbing their hands with glee at these type of theads.

The more attention drawn to Maschine the more people become aware of it. Good luck to them.

I really can see the attraction to the maschine (I prefer ableton with a controller, I don't mind using a mouse when on a computer and I don't see the big deal).

The only thing I ever wanted was a VST version of the MPC program that would open in any DAW. Why akai never got around to doing that is beyond me. They could have done this years ago and beaten everyone to the punch and still kept the MPC ahead of everything.

Sketch your beat in the MPC (which I love doing) and then open the program as a Battery style VST in your DAW and then start mixing with no need to spend ages tracking or converting samples into wave's to move into battery.

This would be great. I think this is actually where the beatkangz had a good idea. Just a shame they were so tacky with their design and advertising.

Maschine is cool and I wanna see how it runs with the newer Mac's before I reserve my judgement. At least things are moving forward.

Back to the games.

Im starting to notice a trend here. I havent heard anything suggestions regarding maschine that would help me making music any better. There are some obvious things that people havent brought up, because they are too busy testing build quality and comparing features instead of making music. Everything mentioned thus far as a "fault" in maschine functionally has a workaround to it. Maybe thats just it though nobody wants to work. MPCs and Maschine are not model cars for me, I dont collect them to talk to my buddies about the specs and build. I do realize this is a hobby for some however and I can respect that, I just dont come from that world, its not a hobby for me.

No disrespect, but in one notion you say its not a hobby for you yet you spend a lot of time in the forums defending the product or downplaying user's requests taking time away from your non-hobby activities. One moment you complain about the fact that MPCs have to save to its hard drive, then put it into USB mode in order to drag and drop files into a DAW but then here you say "nobody wants to work" because there are features we would like to see to improve workflow. Not to mention, you use the words workflow everywhere. Its hard to tell where you actually stand.

I wouldn't get worked up over the consumer reports here. It is just that...feedback whether its positive or negative. Feel free to bring up the obvious things we have yet to mention. Eventually, we may get around to some of those things.

And build quality and feature comparison is essential when deciding what to spend your money on. Also, the issues that some are having with the hardware was also a past issue according to reports at the NI forum.

most features peeps iss dissing r small nit picky things or just random shit that most peeps dont use unless ur sequencing external gear.

peep will be very critical of any product that is not put by akai or does not match every feature of the mp, but bare in mind many of the mpc features are somewhat obsolete relics of a past era.

peeps say mpc n techniques r classic for a reason but those were the best tool for that time, maschine may be one of the best tool for now. and so it continues in 10 years perhaps something else holds the crown.

The one MIDI output actually is more of a software limitation than a hardware limitation. That's something that can be changed by NI. Yes, I know we users are asking a lot, but that's a good thing for the future of Maschine. NI should be worried if we already were satisfied the way it is now and didn't have anything left to ask.

In the meantime we just have to be creative. 8)

We have to thank F Major for the public service announcement.

But it comes off a bit preachy. For those that are discussing Maschine's shortcomings, we are fully aware how to use a product with limitations. A lecture about opening your mind and trying different things is way off base here. We are generally speaking as consumers and giving feedback to what we would like to see in an MPC-like product. In fact if you browse through the thousands of feature request threads, you will see the desire for a product like Maschine that has an MPC workflow without the limitations of the MPCs hardware. NI has succeeded in bringing that to the table, but the software of Maschine came with limitations that are not typical of a modern sampler. As a consumer, I have certain expectations. Maschine should at least match the specs of the leading software samplers. NI need to look no further than their current product line for further inspiration.

I know exactly what Maschine is...a sampling drum machine and MIDI sequencer whose software resides on your computer...yada, yada. If NI wants to take a larger piece of the market created by Akai MPCs, I believe they should work on Maschine's shortcomings already presented in numerous threads. We will never see the end of feature request threads. We want to see the advancements in technology in the form of new products. NI isn't really giving us new technology, at least give us a product with current technology and specs.

I want the best in my studio...not sure if I should be selling maschine to fund mpc, or stick with it...what is it.

this forums leaves me with more confusion than information

why would u look to a forum to validate ur choice of gear? u decide for urself what u enjoy using, what u vibe best with and what gets u working how u wanna.

the best is subjective so seeking it is some ego bs. dont buy into the hype of the legendary mpc will make u a better producer or impress ur peers.

if u sell ur maschine based off what these purist nerds tell u dats sum dumb shit, mpc is dope if u use alot of outboard gear, me i neva used midi ports in my life, i just sample chop n 2 track out so im better off with maschine.

but thats me u need to see what getting an mpc will enable u to do that can be done with ur current setup then look into shit off.

bare in mind alot of these dudes like to feel they got the best shit so they gonna get they feelings hurt if anything comes out to knock they product off the top spot, its silly.

This is what I wanted as well.

I only had a very limited time to work with maschine, but I'm interested in trying again.

i found this threat very useful- the for and cons of maschine vs mpc. i m thinking about getting a mpc 5000
but an maschine tempts me,less costs very smooth workflow, intuitive (testing it today...) but it lacks full midi,
i have a lot ofsound modules, i am doing live, i don t like the hype, and in ni forum there is some discussion about
broken/malfunktion ni pad/ broken buttons: they feel super, but i think that they don t last long, cheap build ( i can post the talks about broken ni pads here, it makes sense.) overall mpc is a real studio instrument, ni feels abit like a big plastic toy, it can t reach the sturdiness and solidity of an mpc, then the registration/dependance of the software (oh shiiit) finally the ni innovations may inspire nukai and others! that s good for
every one, and the differences responds to different needs... i would like to have the workflow of maschine in an mpc box, full hardware, better screen(touch please)with full ext. software support, vst implement! but workin WITHOUT a pc/mac.
