Sure you can adjust the start and end points!
Sure you can zoom in on the sample on the desktop with more resolution than any mpc screen even the LCD of the 5k. What are you talking about!sv
I chop manually very fast on maschine and of course done this way I can control how much overlap I want. Too much dependance on auto chop is a hindrance in any producers arsenal. As a matter of fact auto chopping is a handicap for phrases in my book unless you are dealing with a drum loop you want to separate for drum hits.
Anyways I could go on and on but what be the point if you don't already know these basic capabilities of the gear. I guess you have money to burn but, no time to learn.
A lot of falsehoods is posted on the net often so it is important to weed it out.

You are correct. A lot of falsehoods are posted on the net and you just happen to be the source.
Slicing.Maschine's slicing capabilities do not come close to an MPC 2500/1000. These MPCs does
everything Maschine does when it comes to slicing and more. Maschine's Mode slices recorded audio into fixed increments (4, 8, 16, 32) where using an MPC (JJ OS) you can freely choose the number of slices you want. The workaround using Maschine is to go into EDIT mode in order to ADD/REMOVE additional slices which you don't have to do using an MPC since you can freely select the number of slice you want such as 3, 7, 17, 33, etc. You can say this is nitpicking but it is a fact that all "real" Maschine users know. Another limitation of Maschine is that when you adjust the END point of one slice, it changes the START point of the next slice. MPC 2500/1000 (JJ OS) doesn't have this limitation when using non-destructive chopping. Non-destructive chopping allows you to freely edit the START and END points of a sliced sample without impacting the other samples adjacent to it. This was a highly sought after feature of MPC Forum members that was added to these MPCs. Maschine does not have this capability. As I am messing with Maschine as I type this, I have to mention the very annoying limitation that you must name your samples prior to recording since you can't rename them afterwards. Every MPC I can remember can do this very simple task that is not possible used Machine's OS 1.5.
So while chopping on Maschine may be faster than an MPC 4000 (which doesn't have the new Chop Shop) as you say...but from my experience, it is much slower than using the MPC 5000/2500/1000.
Zoom bug.Since you don't use Maschine to edit (it is not very good so I understand why), you may not have encountered the zoom bug..which I have encountered when doing fine editing of samples. This isn't a problem with any MPC.
http://www.native-instruments.com/forum ... light=zoomAlso Maschine does not offer more detail than the MPC 5000 or 2500/1000. It may appear that way (if you are blind) because the computer monitor is larger than an MPC LCD. But if you take another look at Mashine's hardware LCD (which is an identical representation of your computer's monitor) and you will see that Maschine shows less detail when compared to the previously mentioned MPCs. Using an MPC, I can zoom all the way in to view the sample down to a single pixel on the MPCs LCD. This is not possible using Maschine. If you continue to keep posting untruths, I will be forced to take time out of my busy day and post pictures of examples. Now, I admit..I can't vouch for the MPC 4000s detail when it comes to zooming in. But i can certainly vouch for the MPC 5000/2500/1000.
No fair.
I don't care what name you forum members want to call them. However, Maschine is a sampling drum maschine and MIDI sequencer. This is exactly what an MPC is. Any of the latest MPCs (5000, 2500, and 1000) are better at sampling, sample editing, MIDI sequencing, and sound design when compared to Machine. You should know this when making a purchase.
NI Maschine Q&A (NI answers questions posted by actual Maschine users):
Q. Are there any plans for NI to update Maschine with more advanced sample manipulation options?
A. Right now we put more priority on expanding other aspects of the Maschine software, so there is nothing along those lines that I can confirm right now.
Q. One thing that i really miss in maschine is a way to record my mutes and solos as a new pattern (or overwriting the existing one as option ). In the same vein, i would like to record scene changes, mutes and solo as a song. With quantization of mutes, solos and scene changes for smooth change and no brutal sound cut off, if possible.
A. We are aware of the demand for this functionality, it's definitely something that we want to add at some point.
Q. I would love to know not only when timestretch is planned for maschine but also what type of time stretch and how it will be implemented. (Will it be overall or an option in the audio edit section next to truncate and normalize)
A. Timestretching is on our development roadmap, as a real-time feature, not just an offline process in the sample editor. Regarding the "when" - when it's ready
Q. Are you guys planning a simple way to layer samples on one pad in the next update, and if so, will the next update cost me money?
A. Probably not exactly this feature, but the next update will have a function that will allow you to do something similar. And it will definitely be free!
Q. Will there be an improved/more intuitive way to layer samples on a pad? Something like Motu BPM, GURU, Poise, where you can layer quickly, and have quick access to each layer for tweaking?
Not like the current way of keymapping which is counterproductive to layering samples quickly.
The add to map is a good feature, but not being able to quickly access each layer in a stacked sample kills the workflow, for this reason many just continue to leave samples on different pads and play them in manually.
A. Yes, we have a number of mapping improvements planned for the next versions. First we want to add more flexible mapping options via the mouse that will be similar to Kontakt. We also plan to have a "Pad Link" feature in the next update that will be an easy alternative way to layer sounds.
Beyond that, other additional mapping features are also on our roadmap for the future.
Now....MPC/MV users have these features already at the finger tips using their current MPCs/MVs (MPCs are limited to offline timestretch).
