Hold the bottom button on the dbeam section (not pitch or volume, assign? not in front of it)

and then move whatever slider or knob you want to automate.

Ah ok, didn't catch that it was Just Blaze's rant you had copied.

In regards to the synth patches: sometimes I use a patch from the ROM as a starting point.
Most people don't know, the synth is really great if used right. Control through the QLinks is great.

The combination of the 5K's sequencer and synth plus QLink-automation, multisampling, HD-recording scratch pad and extensive connectivity will make the 5k a revered classic in a couple of years. There.. I said it :)

yeah no doubt there will always be people who will love the product... and some will always remember it with high regards....

but I have a feeling that the 5000 will always be remembered as the laughing stock of akai and the mpc series.

It is bad when numark even stopped promoting it and they were really trying hard to promote the 5k. They dont even show that at events anymore... hahaha even roland brings the MV8800 to events still and that design is almost as old as the mpc4000.

I really don't get it.

Is everyone talking about the OS?

The workflow?

The features?

The Sound?

Because all of these are fine.

I'm sure the hating against the 5K stems from 2 things:

1. Just Blaze's rant which no longer has any ground because everything he criticized is already fixed with OS 2.0
2. That it wasn't named MPC 3500

The love the 4K gets is justified, it's still a great machine.. it has 2 (n a half) major advantages to the 5K: 24 bit sampling, the possibility to upgrade it to 512 MB RAM (and Aksys).

But the hatred towards the 5K is really not justified. It has many other advantages to the 4K: workflow, synth, hd recording, standard connectivity, etc... it also has many advantages to the 1K and 2K5 (even with JJos).

I really don't know why akai/numark/whoever don't push the 5K more. It is definately a killer machine which IMHO only needs a couple of updates (for example refining of trim mode and chop shop).

I was at the BPM show in Birmingham England last week and Numark/Akai had a massive stand, with the 5000, 2500 ltd and 500 all being displayed and demoed. Funny thing is, at the front of the stand they had a girl DJ'ing commercial dance music with Ableton/APC controller, and placed an MPC 3000 to her left (not plugged in or hooked up-just for display).

really haha? That is quite odd that akai would have a 3000 there.. they dont even pics of that model (or the 2000, 60, 60ii, or any of the s-series) on their website...

Well, look at you now after trying to use the MPC just a little beyond the 'noob' phase ..

Sieko look what i put underneath , that load of **** made me laugh as my mpc has none of them problems he is talking about lol

we all know that most of these things are rectified with OS2.0...don't know why you are coming up with old news like this trying to make a fool of someone who -at the time he wrote it- was 100% correct !

there was a time before OS2.0 which you probably never ever have known, good for you

anyway, I wonder who is referred to as '5000 haters' , I personally know of none...I do know about people who use this box in depth and have problems with a few flaws the MPC has still in OS2.0 , but to call this 'hatred' ?
I do notice some people (like you) love to say the hardware they use is 'the best' and nothing else is as good as this , and they are quite fanatic about that 'fact'.
Funny to see that MPC 4000 owners say it's the best MPC, MPC 5000 owners say the same, MPC 2000 owners also.

You're right. Those who have used or own a 5K know that the pre OS 2.0 days are long gone.
But there's like at least one post every day where some ignorant fella links to JB's rant and claims that the 5K is full of bugs. Or says stuff like all 5K's are prone to spontaneous self combustion because of only one case they know of that a 5K started smokin (linked youtube video they saw) -> That's ignorant hating.
Obviously in the case of the 5K not all people know about what's up. Some more 5K love wouldn't hurt IMHO :D
