Ur for real???? ???

The 2kxl was way more expensive then the 2500 when it was released.

$300 for a replacement screen. That's shit ain't worth the money when u could just buy a brand new 2500.

USB connectivity, flash card and HD disk instead of floppy or zipdisk. 128mb. 8 ouputs and FX already installed. JJOS compatible.

Ur right. Those features are not worth the extra money

Very true but we ain't speaking new prices were talking current ...

Also I wonder why people believe mpc 2000xl can't have cf readers and internal hard drives ...also scsi external hard drives ...$ 300 screen replacements is expensive I agree tho

But some people don't need all the features the mpc 2500 has ...jj OS isn't needed for music and only internet producers know it exist imo ...

I agree mpc 2500 is better then 2000xl but doesn't make u better
As a producer

We're talking about getting enough bang for your buck. Which machine makes u a better a producer has always been irrelevant.

2KXL4life wrote:2500 is nice but at the end of the day the features ain't worth the heavy price tag

And talking new prices are relevant, because 12 years ago u probably found the 2kxl worth the $1600 while u probably also could have bought the mpc 3000

Same story with the 2kxl/ 2500.

And I never said the 2kxl can not have CF card drives. But with the 2500 it's already installed. Let's say if u buy a second hands 2kxl. Maxed out it probably has the same pricetag as a second hands 2500.

Even if u buy a stripped down 2kxl for $300 plus the FX board, plus ram upgrade, plus 8outs expansion board, plus cf card mod and maybe u have to replace the screen within a year after purchasing it.

How much was that 2500 again?

I agree, the 2500 is a great first machine. easy to use, capable, inexpensive to maintain, and it gets the job done. That bein said, Ive had tremendous joy with my 2kxl, building it, customizing it, making it MY machine, and not having to worry about it taking a beating. Besides the screen issue, the 2kxl is far more reliable, less prone to issues, better quality build, AND easy, straight forward, and capable. My $0,02

Didn't mean to take a shit on the 2kxl. Not at all. I know it has some better qualities then the 2500.

It's just this quote:

I have problems with. The 2500 really is worth the money compared to -for example- a maybe cheaper second hands 2kxl. Which one of those two gives you the best bang for you buck depends on the users needs.
And if you do want to compare those machines in price then there's not much of a difference if u want a complete full functioning mpc.

yeah sometimes you see used 2500's going for 800 bucks and sometimes you see people trying to sell maxed XLs for that price.

Anyone here experienced any major problems on the 2500?
I've read of a couple bugs here and there but how serious are they?

I'm in the same boat on whether to get the 2000XL or the 2500, but the comments in here are further leading me to get the 2500 tho.

One major issue some forum members have addressed is pads. For some reason, they just go berserk outta nowhere when u least expect it. Ask DJ Hellfire for more info

I got my 2500 from a Pawn Shop for $599 and it has been flawless. Not a single hiccup. On Ebay, check that feedback and check with reputable forum members - people on here have some serious connects!!

Yeah I want to so bad already. :D

I just can't afford to throw my money away on something that may not end up functioning right.
