Hello, I think this is really my first question and its about feedback!
I think feedback is the worst subject to search for :? so after looking through 26 pages of search results i gave up and decided to post. please forgive me already a thread i cant find.

I want to know how much, say a MPC1000 that i have, can take? I know I can monitor the signal in the record window and try to trim the input on mpc and from desk,

BUT......

I do feedback alot with effect racks, and I know it is what i want to do with the mpc but would like a ball park idea how much they take before i burn it out lol. Any horror stories out there about melting mpcs?

I can clarify that i mean audio signal into desk out through send returns back into mpc with the throughput on and back out to the desk. a audio feedback loop. just to you know fatten it up even more and push the boundries so to speak :)

Anyone??

I know this is a old technique used by hip hop producers of yore on older mpcs. I will give it a go and let you know how i go.

yeah, it would be cool to hear the results of that
as for burning it out, isnt that the same question as 'how hot can a signal be before i wreck my mpc'... i dont think your mpc cares were the signal is coming from, its own output or not..

Yeah which means i need to put a multimetre on an exposed phono jack when the loop is set up, and watch it.

Manual states Max input level is :P +10dBu which means 2.449489742 Volts RMS which is

6.928203229 volts

I thought the mpc might have a diode or something to limit max voltage. And i was hoping for a horror story or two, but i do have a fair idea what not to do so, im ok giving it a go. I have real crappy mixer so will have to get better one.

Just as a general rule the EQs work in reverse on the signal when its feeding back. Differential shit :) thats also another way to limit signal through.

And im sure i never saw Mr Huxtable at no block party like that
