a group has 16 sounds in it, each sound/pad has (currently) 2 fx on it
now I agree that the arranger needs to be more flexible in how it can sequence things separately, but really, many folks can make an entire song using one group... since it's 16 sounds in that group, and they can just use different scenes for the change ups
I'm like you, I prefer standalone mode, there is actually a step mode "sort of" well, you can draw in notes on the grid, but it's not a "step" like flsdtudio or something like that
Let's see, you are saying one group can contain up tp sixteen different multisample instruments, correct? I understand the drum kit in a group containing sixteen different drum sounds, synth hits, phrases, or bass notes that has a 16 tuning key pitch apply from the pads. But to be clear I can take group A for example in the new OS and load ominsphere on pad 1, Konkact on pad 2, korg ms20 on pad 3 and etc each on their own track in the same group played by my keyboard? Just want to get it right.
By the step editing I mean like the step edit list page on the mpc or logic like you can click on a note see the note placement 1:01:480 or the duration 240, 480 like that.
you can do this right now, it doesn't take up the whole group like a program in the mpc, so each pad/sound can be a single sample or it can be a multi sampled instrument
http://soundsandgear.com/mpc-to-maschin ... keygroups/so just like now you can use drums over the whole group or you can load it up with various multisample instruments (16) now I agree that I'd like to see more detailed arranging, I've been asking for this for a while but in theory, with one group you can just use that and great different patterns of 16 tracks, or I like to keep my drums on a group, my samples/chops in a group, and then use another group/groups for my instruments and just use patterns to make change ups

I then create different scenes (sequences) to build my song
http://soundsandgear.com/maschine-song- ... se-scenes/Yeah it doesn't have the step editor that advanced yet, I know people are asking for it so I'm sure it will be improved some in the future.
