maschine aint turning into a daw its become the ultimate beat maschine workstation with unlimited sounds and processing due to the use of soft synths and vst fx.

the sequencer is fine its just like the ableton session view also the pattern editing is fine so they basically have simplified the beat making process.

You still haven`t answered my questions maschine in standalone mode hosting plugins is a given it would be self contained and bounce down the tracks in stereo. However how will maschine as a plugin in logic/DAW work running other plugins at the same time??? Plus since maschine only has 8 groups how are you going to have unlimited sounds you are restrained to 8 tracks unless they make the tracks free from the groups scheme and even less if a third party effects has to take up one of the groups.

The sequencer made be fine for you but for me it needs a step editor or at least timeline for each individual note which ableton, logic and the mpc all have.

I own maschine and the update looks promising and I look forward to the new OS 1.6 however it seems to me to get the right performance out of maschine with the new features most would like to work with maschine as a standalone unit than as a plugin within a DAW. As a drum machine plugin fine. But loading battery, synths, third party effects looks, sounds, and smells like a psuedo DAW in the making the same as when ableton 1.0 started and look where ableton is now a full fledged studio.

each group has 16 sounds, each sound has it's own track. each sound has it's own effects as well...

that's like 8 16 track sequencers depending on how you look at it lol, with drag and drop/exporting of each sound individually, definitely

but I do agree I would like to see some improvements to the arrangement, it could be even more flexible in my opinion, but as much as they've been listening this far, I would imagine it will get some improvements as well in the future

using in logic I would assume you can just use the external outputs if you want to send the vsts into it or drag and drop the audio into logic

Thanks for the quick reply Saintjoe as you are right on the placement of sounds in a group for drum kits and correct about effects for sounds. Just I'm thinking how it works for soft synths and soft samplers is it the same as the drum kits? I may be wrong but as far as I'm know an key group mapped instrument in current the OS takes up a whole group and whole track. Will the new OS separate each instrument as aka a sound like in a drum kit like a DAW?

Step editing or a timeline for note input would be an added plus and scenes or like sequence or regions I think that as for me this new maschine would be better in standalone mode self contained unit. Compared to maschine as a plugin hosting plugins within a DAW sounds ineffienct of CPU resource if so.

A lot of projects I used with maschine before I did in standalone mode then dragged into logic into continue with other instruments and such but I always prefer the standalone mode of working.

multi samples only take up one sound/track, groups and sounds are different

a group has 16 sounds in it, each sound/pad has (currently) 2 fx on it

now I agree that the arranger needs to be more flexible in how it can sequence things separately, but really, many folks can make an entire song using one group... since it's 16 sounds in that group, and they can just use different scenes for the change ups

I'm like you, I prefer standalone mode, there is actually a step mode "sort of" well, you can draw in notes on the grid, but it's not a "step" like flsdtudio or something like that

Let's see, you are saying one group can contain up tp sixteen different multisample instruments, correct? I understand the drum kit in a group containing sixteen different drum sounds, synth hits, phrases, or bass notes that has a 16 tuning key pitch apply from the pads. But to be clear I can take group A for example in the new OS and load ominsphere on pad 1, Konkact on pad 2, korg ms20 on pad 3 and etc each on their own track in the same group played by my keyboard? Just want to get it right.

By the step editing I mean like the step edit list page on the mpc or logic like you can click on a note see the note placement 1:01:480 or the duration 240, 480 like that.

you can do this right now, it doesn't take up the whole group like a program in the mpc, so each pad/sound can be a single sample or it can be a multi sampled instrument

http://soundsandgear.com/mpc-to-maschin ... keygroups/

so just like now you can use drums over the whole group or you can load it up with various multisample instruments (16) now I agree that I'd like to see more detailed arranging, I've been asking for this for a while but in theory, with one group you can just use that and great different patterns of 16 tracks, or I like to keep my drums on a group, my samples/chops in a group, and then use another group/groups for my instruments and just use patterns to make change ups :) I then create different scenes (sequences) to build my song

http://soundsandgear.com/maschine-song- ... se-scenes/

Yeah it doesn't have the step editor that advanced yet, I know people are asking for it so I'm sure it will be improved some in the future.

I gotta ya. You are right, I had to go back and reread again I have been doing so many sample based production and vsts in logic I haven't dove into maschine instruments as much.

And it looks like the new will be the same as you said great. Look forward to standalone mode.

I only use maschine as a complimentary controller for traktor. I didn't much care for it ad a beat machine, but then again my computer isn't quite capable of running maschine at full capacity.
