Hey whats up I used the search function, wasn't able to find anything, so I'm gonna ask my question here.
I just bought a used MPC 2000 from an authorized akai dealer, I have 30 days to figure out if it works right, after that I can't return it, any other problems fall under the 90 day warrenty. Ok.
So I brought it home and plugged it in, put my mixer(tables) into the input and output it to my pc soundcard(which outs to my sterio unit, then to two speakers).
Also, I should mention the MPC did not come with any manuals or disks, just the unit and the powercord.
So I turn on the MPC and it says "MPC 2000 boot ROM V1.00" for a few seconds, then it says "Disk read error !!".
I downloaded what I think are the operating system files(MPC200.exe, MPC2000.sys) copied them to a floppy and tried turning it on with the disk in, same thing.
I have literally no idea how to get past this, if anyone can help a poor noob enter the magical world of touch pads and sequencing it would be much appreciated.
I should mention that I have a spare floppy drive I would like to try but I'm gonna wait for some replies before opening this baby up.
Peace
P.S. to hear some (experimental) shit I've produced with software and a mouse you can check www.myspace.com/walmartian
PEACE
