MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

just now. Ordered online as a Holiday gift. My pads on my 2500 only work about half of the time so I'm gonna use it as an effects box with my tables. A very expensive effects box. I realize I could fix the pads myself or get it repaired, but I'm not looking this gift horse in the mouth, so to speak. Pretty stoked.

Cancel your order. The 5000 is the most disappointing machine once you start getting into it and it breaks down. Then its replaced, then it breaks down, and so on....

Do what you will but since september im over a grand worse off and no music station better off!

Man daveyP, you're spamming the MPC 5000 section whereever possible with your same old BS... how do you know drumjockey will be just as disappointed as you were with the 5K? There are many people like me who are very happy with their 5K.
Giving advice like that to someone who is in anticipation of receiving a coolass device as a holiday gift is.. I dunno.. whack?!!

You made bad experiences with the two 5K's you received which is bad luck.. but rigidly projecting that experience to anyone else all the time won't make your experience better.. you're running around like a kid with a broken christmas gift who wants to spoil it to all the other kids too.

Its not the 5k. Its you. You have no rhythm, no soul, and no rock n roll. Your a square. Simple simon. I can make a beat on idrum and rock that ish.. stop blaming the tool. You couldnt make a beat if Dr.Dre gave you all the midi tracks and 9th wonder did the sample.

I've made plenty of music thanks all the same Mr Know it. Plenty of good music too with plenty of friends and plenty of combinations of instruments and equipment- ive loved all (pretty much all) the music iv made and had a blast doing it.

Its certainly not 'wack' to warn someone that the equipment they are going to purchase may not be all its cracked up to be (hence the Akai ads etc). I've had plenty of gear that ive always treated well, and still have running as good as new; two machines in two months that have broken down behond use (no sound produced by the machine) is worth a mention in my opinion.

I'm glad for you your machine is working, i certainly wouldn't wish this shit experience on anyone else. Im passionate about music, and making it so yeah im passionate about now being one and a half grand down with only broken machine after broken machine to show for it.

And what was that shit joke about Dre...., wow, memorable. Where did your creative juices go?

PS to the guy whos getting the 5000 as a holiday gift, i truely hope yours work fine with no problems, but just watch for those problems and don't be too disappointed if it does happen.

In one of the threads I expressed that I'm sad the MPC 5000's you received were so problematic. I'd call that bad luck, hope the next replacement works perfect and you put the same energy into hyping the 5K like you did hating on it lol.
But really man, going from thread to thread and "warning" people like you do lets people think you have an agenda.

Also there was so much negative energy towards the 5K since it's out (partly due to a famous guy's rant) that warnings like that aren't really needed.. the 5K is already like the most hated machine ever made by man.
But there were always lemons in each and every product line.. also no MP was bug free from the beginning. But as it is now (with v 2.0), those people that are in the know, know the 5K is a beast. Maybe the QC at Akai wasn't the best for some consecutive mondays.. but like I said, I'd call it bad luck receiving 2 different bad units.

all I know is this time I'm sending in my warranty...Can't believe I never did with my 2500. Now while I wait for the 5000 to arrive I'm gonna try and take some time to tighten up my skills with Logic.

otobot,

i see your point. I have said that i thought the forums where'nt going to generate much response; hence my posting in verious places. Also, i was passionatly pissed off as this has happen twice. I prey youre right and the replacement unit will work like a dream- if it does i'll be reporting that and hopfully sharing links to some music i make with it.

Artificialintell, my job could pay better and may not be forever (check out the NHS in the UK!) but that has nothing to do with me posting my experience up on here and also maybe showing that i have been more than a little pissed off- £2k is a lot of cash for me so i hope its been spent wisely!

The intelligent people will understand me and recognise major disappointment. Maybe your intelligence is artificial! wayhey!!! Thats was a joke but really please understand. Gonna have to start photographing and videos my experiences (good and bad) as some people up here are so sceptical, or just blatently intent on discredting the bad reports.

Some people in this forum are bizzare.

just turned her on after putting in CD drive & RAM...really, really dumb question...and it seems obvious I know...It says "Version 2.0." I assume that's the actual OS and I don't have to install from the file on Akai's site. Please forgive my stupidity, trees and overexcitement can do that...I'm prolly not going to bed for the next few days, have two off-Word.
